Do you love 2027 as much as we do? Get Involved! 👇
Class Office:
If you are interested in a leadership role and want to be a part of class office, submit a short video on why you should be a class officer. Please introduce yourself on the video and explain why you would be a great class leader. You can address any (new) ideas you may have for the class. Your video should reflect your personality! Videos need to be sent to Dr. Gavin, Ms. Ponciroli and Mrs. Goodmann by 9/13. Elections will be held on 9/26.
Class Committee:
Turkey Day hallways will be here before we know it! If you are wanting to be involved in class committee and help with the hallways let Mrs. Goodmann or Ms. Ponciroli know. We will make sure you are added to the GroupMe where more information will start to be sent out.
September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month!
Fun in the cafe with Chartwells Dining!
Chartwell Food Service (KHS cafeteria)
We are excited to kick off the month of September with a focus on teaching students how to fuel their bodies with nutritious foods through a Power Your Performance theme. From competitive athletes working to achieve peak performance to any student looking to power through their active day, we can show students how eating the right foods can help them perform at their best and stay ahead of the game.
On September 18 during lunch, we will be preparing some “wheely” great smoothies on the BLENDER BIKE! Students and staff are welcome to try a delicious strawberry banana smoothie sample that was freshly blended by pedaling!
Students can also stop at the create line and blend a custom fruit smoothie as their meal for lunch as larger portions will be offered as an entrée option. Students who qualify for free/reduced meals can purchase a smoothie breakfast at no cost/ .40 cents depending on eligibility."
Attendance Policy/Tardy Reminder!
Please call or email Stacy Denton of any known absence or tardy. You must give an approved policy reason for the tardy/absence otherwise it will be marked as unexcused. (*running late is not an approved reason for an excused tardy. While we appreciate you calling to let us know, please note it will not be excused)
Process:
1. If your student is marked absent and we don''t hear from you by 9am, we will send an email home.
2. If by days end, we don't hear from you a phone call will go home alerting you of the unknown absence.
3. Your student will be marked as unexcused and issued consequences the following morning with no correspondence. You will be notified by email of the consequence given.
Consequences:
Unexcused Absences: 1 detention per class period
Truancy (all day absence): 2 detentions
Tardies: 5=Warning, 10=1 detention, 20=1 day ISS, 30=2 days ISS
As always please refer to the KSD attendance policy for further information.
Check In/Out Refresher!
While we love our parents, we don't need to see you to sign your student in/out! Yay for you! Please call the 10th grade office 213-6117 (or email me, Stacy Denton) at the earliest possible time and I will send your student an ehallpass to be excused from class. If/when they return to school, they will need to sign back in at the 10th grade office. This is very important as it ensures correct attendance. We appreciate all that you do!

About South Tech:
At South Tech, we provide students with real-world experiences, real-world skills, and engaging, hands-on learning to prepare them for college and careers. We celebrate the pursuit of their passion and help them find the right pathway to their own success. Our partial-day schedules keep students engaged in their home high school academics and activities while they enjoy experimental learning in Tech's elective courses.
Our tuition-free, career and technical education (CTE) majors allow students to explore their career interests before graduation while earning industry certifications, college and high school credits, and skills that will last a lifetime. We work with an impressive list of business and industry partners that provide our students with mentorship, internships, apprenticeships, part-time employment, scholarships, and full-time employment offers after high school. Our students are in demand.
If you have an IP in your schedule, please see the important information below!
IP Students
Congrats on earning this privilege! Make sure to do the following to prepare for the school year:
1. Review IP Procedures.
2. If you are new to IP, go to the library for your IP period during the first week of school.
3. Complete your Edpuzzle video in the IP Schoology Course.
4. Commit to doing online attendance on time every day.
Students who do not follow IP sign in procedures will be placed in a study block. IP is a privilege extended to students who have demonstrated responsibility and obtained some level of academic success. You can do this simple little thing each day as I see you do many more complex things in the classroom and athletic field.
