Happy Friday Raptor Families!

We had a fantastic week with our students. Our weather has started to shift and we experienced lower temperatures and rain this past week. Please continue to remind your students to wear appropriate clothing to school and to dress in layers. Weather permitting, we go outside every day!

Our student athletes have away games this week. Our women’s volleyball team is at Sunset Middle School for their game on Monday, September 18th. Our soccer team is playing at Timberline K-8 on Monday, September 18th, as well. Both teams are having a great season and it is amazing to see the growth in our young athletes.

Our Fall Carnival is Friday, September 22nd, from 4:30-6:00pm. Please make sure to read the blurb below for more details and we can’t wait to see you there. Students must be supervised by a parent/guardian.

As a gentle reminder, the earliest time to drop off your student is at 8:20AM and the bell rings at 8:35AM. Please note, that there is no supervision prior to 8:20AM. School lets out at 3:35PM, please make sure that students are picked up promptly, or that transportation and after-school care has been arranged.

*On September 22nd for the Fall Carnival, students need to leave school to give time for staff to set up the carnival. They may return at 4:30 with a parent/guardian.

Many of us have adorable, fun loving pets that we want to share with everyone, but for the safety of ALL our students, we ask that you keep your pet at home. While we all have the best intentions, we need to do our best to keep students safe. We appreciate your understanding.

For the 23-24 School Year Thunder Valley will be participating with Milk Caps for Mooola. How does the program work?

1. Drink Longmont Dairy Milk (All caps from Longmont Dairy products in our glass bottles are eligible)
2. Save the bottle caps. Save as many as you can—from your bottles, or collect them from your family and neighbors.
3. Bring your milk caps to school and put them into the collection

Fees for the school year can be found online through the Infinite Campus Parent Portal under Fees. You can also see if there are any unpaid fees from the previous school years.

Families can make payments using Campus Payments. Please visit this link for instructions on how to pay outstanding fees in Infinite Campus.

Registration opens on September 25th. To Register please log on to RevTrak through this link Practice starts on October 2nd. We are looking forward to a great Basketball Season, Go Raptors!

School starts at 11:05am, the earliest students can be dropped off is 10:50am. Buses pick up 2.5 hours later than their normal pick up time.

Thunder Valley K-8 is currently seeking a part-time (3 hrs./day) instructional paraeducator to join our team. As an instructional paraeducator, you would support teachers with small group instruction and cafeteria/recess supervision. Safe2Tell’s reporting process is simple. Call to interact with a live, trained analyst (call takers) or fill out a form via the website or mobile app.

St. Vrain Valley Schools invites parents, teachers, staff, and community members to join Superintendent, Dr. Don Haddad, for one of our upcoming Superintendent Town Hall meetings. These annual open forums in each of our geographic areas provide an opportunity for Dr. Haddad and other district leaders to listen to our community’s questions and suggestions, share our many successes, and discuss our bold vision for continuing to build new schools as our student enrollment continues to climb.

If you have already registered for 100 Mile Club, practice will begin on Monday, September 18th at 7:50am on the track. If you are interested, sign-ups are through Revtrak. The deadline to register is September 30th. If you have any questions please contact Marissa Martinez.

Register for 100 Mile Club

Each year, schools in St. Vrain Valley School District complete a process to identify students who demonstrate exceptional ability or performance in one or more academic areas and may, therefore, qualify for Gifted/Talented educational services. These students usually perform at least two years above grade level in their strength area(s), and they require additional academic challenges in order to support their continued educational growth and progress. In addition, they usually demonstrate characteristics of unique creativity and high motivation in their strength areas.

Referrals are open through the month of September and will close on the last day of the month. Referrals after that date will be addressed on a case by case basis. Completing a referral guarantees a review of the student profile to determine if testing is recommended for the student. The process for identification requires a body of evidence and often takes place throughout the school year.

The process takes approximately 5-10 minutes to complete.
