Carver's Weekly Update
Monday, December 2, 2024
Carver Parents/Guardians,
As we enter our last month in this quarter/year, I want to inform you of some upcoming tests that will be administered during the month of December.
Students in grades 3, 4, and 5 will take the LInkit Form B test on Tuesday, December 10 and Wednesday, December 11. The purpose of the Linkit test is to give teachers and students insight on their readiness for SC Ready. Teachers will be able to use these results to determine individual students' academic need. Incentives will be given to students who show growth and/or students who maintain a meet or exceeds score.
All grades will take the STAR test on Monday, December 16 and Tuesday, December 17. It is important for students to be present and on time on our testing days.
2nd Quarter AR Goals
I want to encourage all students to read, read, and read. Students in grades 1-5 will need to meet their AR goals by Friday, December 20. Many students have already met their goals. Although the AR "progress rocket" in the program states they have until January 6, the deadline is actually December 20.
Math Facts
We have a goal in to mind to have as many students as possible meet their grade level math facts requirement in December. Please help us by working with students at home. If you are not sure about which math facts your child will need to master, please contact his/her teacher.

Thanksgiving Meal with Mrs. White's Kindergarten Students
Students in Mrs. White's class spent the day cooking a vegetable soup using ingredients brought in by the class. They went outside to their garden and harvested some rosemary to season the soup. They also picked some lettuce to prepare a side salad. While the soup was cooking, students made butter to spread on their bread by shaking heavy cream in a jar. The class decorated tablecloths; learned how to set the table with placemats, utensils, and napkins; and practiced good table manners. The students had a wonderful time spending the day gathered together as one big class family.
