Ducks Update
Back to School Edition

February 27, 2025
A Note from Ms. de Boom-Howard
Davis Duck Families,
I hope you had a great week off for Presidents' Week! I've loved hearing about the adventures our students went on. As we return, we are entering a big push over the next six weeks before spring break, focusing on learning and kindness. Please make sure students are at school daily and on time—consistent attendance is key to their success!
Parent-teacher conferences are just around the corner, March 10-14! School will be in session all week, with early dismissal at 1:20 PM each day. This is a valuable opportunity to connect with your child’s teacher and set a plan for the final third of the school year.
Also, join us at Flag Deck tomorrow as we celebrate MANY birthdays, recognize our Shout-Out Award winners, and enjoy a special performance from the amazing cast and crew of SpongeBob! Please note we will start with the SpongeBob performance as our 6th graders are heading off to visit CMMS. We look forward to seeing you in the morning!
Go Ducks!

Core Value of the Week
Do What is Right
At our Davis, we believe in the power of doing what is right, even when no one is watching. This core value encourages students to make thoughtful choices, show integrity, and take responsibility for their actions.
Doing what is right means treating others with kindness, being honest, and standing up for what is fair. It’s about making choices that reflect our best selves—whether that’s helping a classmate, following school rules, or admitting mistakes and learning from them.
As we move into a season of focused learning and growth, let’s all commit to doing what is right each day.
Important Information
Attendance Reminders
Students are considered tardy if they are not in their class line by 8:15 AM. Our instructional day runs from 8:15 AM to 3:00 PM. If students are still running in from a gate after 8:15, they will be marked tardy by their teacher.
Gate 3 is open for preschool drop-off and locks at 8:20 AM.
If you need to drop off your student after school has started, please park and come into the office to sign them in.
Thank you for your cooperation!
LCAP Input Needed- Closes TOMORROW!
Each school district in California must develop an annual plan, called the Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP). The plan describes the school district’s overall vision for students, outlines its goals, and lists specific actions the district will take to achieve the vision and goals. As part of the process, each school district must engage students, parents, employees, and the community. This survey represents the chance to have a voice in the process. Please take this 10-minute LCAP online survey.
You may review NMUSD LCAP documents on the NMUSD LCAP Website. The survey will be open from Monday, February 10th through Friday, February 28th
