Read Across America Day
📚✨ We had a day of reading enjoyment on Read Across America Day as our Principal dove into "The Legend of Rock Paper Scissors." We laughed, cheered, and discovered the ultimate showdown between legendary rivals. Thank you for helping us celebrate of the joy of reading together, Mr. Chisholm.
Learning Spotlight
How lucky we are to be able to spotlight another SVLA world traveler! When you travel, you get to see awesome stuff like big, old buildings, yummy foods, and learn about different ways people live all around the world. Serenity learned about Mexico and her mom's Honduras trip. She learned about life in both places. In Mexico her family went on a bus and had a tour in La Bufadora and an old hotel/casino in Ensenada, Mexico. Traveling is like solving a big puzzle sometimes. You have to figure out how to get from one place to another and how things work in new places. It's like a fun challenge that makes you feel brave and smart! But the best part of traveling is making memories with your family.
Third Quarter Workshops
Q3 elementary workshops remaining: March 11, & 18.
We are fortunate to have a winter "home away from home" at the HUB where we get to run, jump, and hippity hop. Our PE workshops are a great place to practice large muscle movements and refine locomotor skills
Exploring the fascinating world of forensic science! Students immerse themselves in a handwriting lab, investigating ink analysis to sharpen investigative STEM skills. Thank you, Mrs. Patchen and Mr. Lee!
Mrs. Davies and Mrs. Merkley helped students make their own flying birds using tissue paper, a paper clip, string, and feathers. With magnets in hand, they experimented to make Gertrude McFuzz fly, blending literature, art and science in the "Books are Fun" workshop.

PACE Character Trait of the Month DILIGENCE
Guest Column by Cris Kaminskas, Mayor the City of Liberty Lake
Diligence…the habit of being persistent and making hard-working effort in your work or duties. Actively practicing diligence may be one of the more difficult to master, however, because its application applies in every aspect of our waking hours. It is a character trail that is instilled at an early age and continues through every phase of our lives. At an early age, we teach our children to be diligent in doing their homework. Diligence in students is correlated with academic performance. The support of both parents and educators encourages students to be diligent, and this motivation carries from grade school through college.
In today’s fast paced, technically advanced, multi-tasking, social media world, with over 300 television stations, and constant interruptions in our workplace, how can we possibly fulfill the definition of “investing all my energy to complete the tasks assigned to me.” For me, being diligent is connected to time management, life’s priorities, and flexibility. I know through my life, I find myself mastering tasks and being more productive when I am diligent about planning my day based on various priorities (family, work, city – the order always seems to change!). The challenge is to be cognizant of our most important tasks, make modifications when needed, then persevere until we reach a desired conclusion
Diligence is a far-reaching character trait and is applicable to each of us all day long; it transcends our job and school:
- Investing quality time with our spouse and children
- Contacting family members and friends on a regular basis
- Nurturing our health – eating right and exercising
- Interactions with strangers – showing respect and making a good first impression
- Civic responsibilities – not just being appointed to a board or winning an election, but exerting resolve, to study, and properly prepare to do the task at hand
- Nurturing our faith – seeking to be a dedicated servant
- Personal time – hobbies, activities, and personal growth.
We enjoyed sharing this video with our Open House guests on Thursday evening!
