Slaybaugh School Complex
Week of October 4, 2020
Message from the Principal
We are continuing to work hard in preparation for the October 26th opening of the Slaybaugh School. This includes looking at survey data, preparing the hybrid groups so that students in the same household are placed in the same group. Students will be placed in Group A or Group B or remain All Virtual. Students in Group A will attend school in-person on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Students in Group B will attend school on Thursdays and Fridays. We are also in the process of preparing the bus passes to be mailed home. Everyone is doing their part to ensure that we have a smooth transition from virtual to hybrid. Even though we will be reentering the building for hybrid learning, things will still not be the “normal” that we were used to prior to the pandemic, but we will continue to be vigilant and flexible. Keep up the good work with virtual learning and we look forward to welcoming you back into the building very soon.
Sincerely,
Joe Marinelli

Student Achievement
First Graders Take a Bite Out of Science!
Mrs. Foster's 1st grade class has been learning about the sun and moon and observing patterns that occur day and night. We learned how to match a moon phase name with a moon phase appearance. We were able to show how the moon changes from new moon, to full moon, and back every 28 days. We recreated each phase in cookies and frosting, and then snacked on the results. Science is yummy!

Week of Respect 2020
Respect means you act in a way that shows people you care about them and their feelings. You can show respect by sharing, being kind, and being polite. A good way to show respect to people is to follow The Golden Rule. The Golden Rule is to treat others the way you want to be treated.
Here at Slaybaugh we are creating “A Growing Garden of Respect”
Nolan Kelley from Mrs. Flaherty’s class who titled his wonderful artwork as “The Rose of Respect”
Emma Parmelee from Mrs. Pellegrini’s class who did an excellent job writing all different ways respect can grow!
Happy Respect Week !
