This Week at GMSS
From the Desk of Ms. Murdock
Hello GMSS families,
Winter has arrived! As always please make sure our kiddos are bundled up. We do try to go outside for recess as long as we are able. In addition, students are outside before and after school. We do bring students in when the temperature "feels like" 32 degrees or below.
Big shout out to our Student Leadership and our families for a successful collection of food items for GRIN. We appreciate our giving community.
Split lunches! I am certain you have heard the grumbling! We have opted to follow an old plan of splitting our lunches. Half of our students start in recess and the other half start in lunch and the swap! Students are still with the tables they chose. This change has been a result of our large numbers in the cafeteria, the noise level and quite honestly the behavior. We are hopeful that this change helps and creates a great space for lunches.
LOST and FOUND is quite out of control quickly! We will donate these items at the end of this quarter, December 20th. Please encourage your child to swing by and gather their things.
Have a great weekend
Robin Murdock
From the desk of Mr. Bonath
Each week I will share about a way that we recognize students at GMSS - This week’s student recognition update: Academic Award - Academic Student of the Week! Weekly, teachers have the opportunity to recognize any student who is going above and beyond their expectations - this is often in relation to ROAR within their classrooms coupled with student work and being a helpful hand. Students are recognized weekly over the ROAR Report, at lunch, and are given a take-home yard sign, a chromebook sticker, a prize package of free Kona Ice, raffle tickets, front of the lunch line passes, and more. Stay tuned for more, next week!
We are pleased to announce our clubs and activities available to students - if you have any questions about a club, please reach out to Ms. Bonath [bonatha@gjps.org] or the advisor for each club. See the chart for available times and dates of meetings!

Gahanna Lincoln High School will be virtually hosting their annual College Credit Plus (CCP) Informational Student and Parent meeting on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, from 6:30-8:30pm. The first hour of the meeting will include general CCP information from central Ohio colleges and universities, and the second hour will highlight specific requirements from GLHS as well as time for Q&A. As shared on the Ohio Department of Higher Education's website, "College Credit Plus is Ohio’s dual enrollment program that provides students in grades 7-12 the opportunity to earn college and high school credits at the same time by taking courses from Ohio colleges or universities. The purpose of this program is to enhance students’ career readiness and postsecondary success, while providing a wide variety of options to college-ready students, at no or limited costs to students and families." More information about the program can be found on the Ohio Department of Higher Education's website. The link to this meeting will be shared closer to the event.
