ST. MARY PHOENIX NEWS

Fair Week is behind us and was as exciting this year as in the past years. MAP Testing is underway and students are working hard to do a great job. The building is full of groups meeting such as Academic Challenge, Speech and Debate and Drama Club. Lunchtime Clubs will be beginning in the next couple of weeks. I am happy to announce the following officers for the St. Mary Student Council for 2019-2020. President, Rosalia Bowling, Vice President, Anthony Tarutani, Secretary, Morgan Covey and Treasure, Zach George. Congratulations to all of our candidates it was a very close race and we had many qualified students running for office. We look forward to all of the many ideas that will come to fruition this year.

St. Mary Preschool children heard of a small, poor African nation and asked how they could bring some beauty to those children's lives. With the help of Dorene Miller of Mission ATZ (America to Zambia), a nonprofit organization providing essential assistance to the people of Zambia. The project involving creativity, collaboration and journey of 8,000 miles. The children started with a blue background and they made 20 pictures. Dorene and her husband packed some pictures in their luggage and sent some in a planned shipment. The Zambian children were very surprised and so thrilled when they received the paintings. The people of Zambia barely have money to educate their children and there is no education. Thank you Dorene Miller for allowing us to participate in this project.
