Starr King Chronicles
January 2023
Welcome Back!
We hope everyone enjoyed their break and is ready to return to school! Be sure to stay bundled up as we have had a string of unprecedented weather for our area, and make an effort to leave home a little bit earlier so the rain doesn’t make you miss the 7:55 tardy bell. Remember, breakfast opens at 7:15!

IMAX Field Trip
January 27th- 5th grade will be taking a field trip to the IMAX theater to see Extreme Weather. This will be a tie-in with the current social studies unit. Incredible!
Winter Wonderland
January 28th- Our Winter Wonderland family event is coming together! Save the date for Saturday, January 28th from 9:00-11:00 am. The event takes place on campus, and tickets will be on sale both before and after school starting on Wednesday, January 18th. There will be 200 available for presale (but only 50 at the door, so don't miss yours). We are very excited to partner with OLA, St Michael's, Kiwanis and other community partners to help make this event a success. Can’t wait to see you there!
ELPAC Testing
February 1st- We are getting closer to the start of English Language Proficiency Assessments for California (ELPAC). The general and Alternate ELPAC are delivered via a computer-based test delivery platform. The general ELPAC has four domains (Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing) which are administered on computer except for the Writing domain for kindergarten through grade two, which will remain as a paper-based test. The Alternate ELPAC has two communication modes: expressive (Speaking and Writing) and receptive (Listening and Reading). The window for administering these assessments will open on February 1st. For more resources and information on ELPAC, follow the link below.
