Welcome
This year, our building goals for 2019-2020 are to focus on student growth, integrate the message of We Roar. Together., and to strengthen our knowledge of social-emotional learning strategies for staff and students. Please engage in conversations with your child's teacher around measurements that demonstrate goal setting and student growth. We will be utilizing MAP assessment at each grade level in addition to other academic assessments that will push students at every level. Our building theme will support the District theme of We Roar. Together. We will challenge students to demonstrate the qualities of strength and warmth. Finally, our staff will receive training in the area of social emotional learning and engage students in conversations that lead to the ability to manage their own emotions and build healthy relationships.
We are excited about the upcoming school year and welcome your engagement. Please do not hesitate to have conversations with our staff or administrators about your child's education. We thank you for your continued support of Norton City Schools and wish you a great 2019-2020 school year!
We Roar. Together.

Feed My Starving Children Event
Three years ago, Norton City Schools partnered with Grace Church, Norton Police Department and other community organizations to set a goal of providing 1,000,000 meals to people in our local community, across our region, and around the world. We are in year three and will be hosting one final Feed My Starving Children Event across the district. This year, NES will be hosting the event.
We are proud to support this community initiative! This is a great serving opportunity for kids in grades kindergarten and older to be part of a large community effort to provide meals around the world! Be on the look out for information for this event happening September 27-28.
Interested in signing up for a "Blessing in a backpack"? Last year, area churches provided bags of food (snack items, peanut butter, mac-n-cheese and other items) to NES students on Fridays. Contact the NES office if you would like your child to receive one of these Blessings in a Backpack.
Volunteers
Volunteers are a great resource for students and teachers. Our classroom volunteers typically work in the classroom or just outside the classroom door often providing intervention support in reading or math. Volunteers that work in locations other than the classroom or just outside the classroom door will be required to be fingerprinted. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact your child's teacher. You may be asked to contact Norton City Schools central office at 330-825-0863 to make an appointment to be fingerprinted. Volunteers are responsible for the $25 fingerprinting fee. Please contact the office with any questions.
