How Skipping a Meal is a Bad Choice
In the holiday sessions, we often skip meals due to lack of time. Some people skip breakfast and lunch because they want to enjoy holiday dinners without exceeding the calorie count for the day. It is not a healthier way and can lead to weight gain.
When a person skips a meal, it causes a drop in blood sugar. Our brain uses glucose for functioning, and when it doesn't get enough glucose, the body doesn't function to its 100% ability. Moreover, low blood sugar makes you feel irritated, exhausted, stressed and hungry.
Skipping a meal to control calorie count works the opposite. It causes metabolism slows down, resulting in weight gain. Later, people struggle to lose weight. Even when we don't eat food for a long time, our body gets into survival mode. Our bodies and cells crave food and end up eating over the limit.
We know the holiday session is hectic, and everybody gets busy with parties, shopping and travelling. To avoid these situations, an individual can eat smaller, frequent meals rather than skipping a meal. People can replace their snacks with a meal replacement shake for weight loss. They are rich in fiber and protein while having low-carb content to avoid excess calorie intake.
