The AHS Counseling Team is thrilled to have been named the 2024 CREST Counseling Award Winner! We are deeply grateful for this recognition of our outstanding dedication and commitment to supporting students' achievement and well-being. The application process is lengthy, but the pride and gratitude of being recognized as award winners inspire our entire counseling team!
UPCOMING COURSE SELECTION DATES
Timeline: Step 3
Counselors will meet individually with students to review their course selections for the upcoming year. The courses chosen during these meetings will be the only options available to students when they participate in Arena Scheduling. Students will only be able to select their chosen courses, not their alternate options. Additionally, this is the final opportunity for students to decide how many privilege periods they will take next year.
JUNIORS:
January 22nd - Jan 29th
SOPHOMORES:
January 30th - February 6th
LFC FRESHMAN:
January 22nd-February 6th
GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS
Graduation Requirements
Allen ISD students pursue the Foundation High School Graduation Program with Endorsement with Distinguished Level of Achievement (DLA). This will best prepare our students for college, careers and the workforce.
26 credits (The Foundation High School Program with Endorsement)
- 4 credits in English Language Arts (English 1, English 2, English 3, & English 4)
- 4 credits in Mathematics (Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, & additional Math)
- 4 credits in Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics/3rd Science, & 4th Science)
- 4 credits in Soc. Studies (World Geography, World History, US History, Govt. & Econ.)
- 2 credits in Languages other than English (LOTE) (Must be in same language)
- 1 credit in Fine Arts
- 1 credit in Physical Education
- 6 credits in electives
Additional Requirements for Graduation:
- Five End of Course Exams (EOC's)- English 1, English 2, Algebra 1, Biology, US History
- In rare cases or by ARD committee determination, students may graduate on the Foundation Only Program with parent/guardian, principal, and counselor approval. This determination cannot be made prior to the end of a student's sophomore year
- CPR training
- Speech Proficiency Requirements
- Peace Officer Training
- Completion of the FAFSA or FAFSA opt out (senior year)

In order to be on track to graduate on time, students need to have 19 credits or more when they enter their senior year.
HOW CAN I CHECK MY GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS?
Students have several ways to keep an eye on their graduation requirements progress:
- 1. Skyward: Click on the portfolio link to see the most recent transcript
- 2. Skyward: In Career Plan, students can see all of the graduation requirements on the right hand side. Anything in red is still missing from their plan.
- 3. Xello: Students can access a copy of the Credit Monitoring Form and use their transcript to fill it out and see what is still needed. Credit Monitoring Form

POST SECONDARY READINESS
Allen High School is committed to supporting all of our students as they graduate from high school and move forward on the next step of their journey. Our goal is to have 100% of our seniors graduate having demonstrated post-secondary readiness.
Here are some ways that students can earn their College, Career, or Military Readiness (CCMR) Indicator:
- Earn a 480 or higher on the Reading SAT and a 530 or higher on the Math SAT
- Pass the TSIA assessment
- Earn a 3 or higher on an AP exam
- Score a 4 or higher on an IB exam
- Complete a dual credit course
- Earn an industry certification
- Be admitted to a post secondary certification program
- Enlist in the military
TSIA TEST DATES
SAT/ACT DATES
AHS Juniors will take the SAT on campus in the Spring. The following dates are for students wishing to self sign up for a local SAT or ACT. When signing up for the SAT through College Board, you can choose 4 schools to send your scores to for free. After the test, their is a fee to send both SAT and ACT scores to colleges. Our school code is 440077.
AHS TUTORING CENTER
Did you know that AHS has a tutoring center?
The tutoring center is located in the upper library. It is open to support students in the last 45 minutes of the 2nd, 4th, 5th, and 7th periods. It is also open for the 1st period on A days and the 8th period on B days. There is also tutoring by departments before and after school. Check out the link to learn more about these great resources!

SOME TEXAS COLLEGES OFFERING FREE TUITION
- Texas Wesleyan- Student must be a Texas resident entering college for the first time in the Fall of 2025 and must fill out the FAFSA and qualify for a Pell Grant due to financial income level.
- University of Texas at Arlington- Under it's Blaze Forward program, UTA is offering free tuition for undergraduate students who meet eligibility requirements and are from families with an adjusted gross income below or up to $85,000.
- Rice University- Students must be accepted. Degree seeking undergrads who families earn under $75,000 will receive grants that cover tuition, fees and room and board. Students whose families earn between $75,000-$140,000 will receive a full tuition scholarship.
- Texas Tech- Red Raider Guarantee is for any entering freshman. Students must complete the TAFSA or FAFSA, be a Texas resident and have a family adjusted gross income of $65,000 or less.
- University of Houston- Cougar Promise is for any entering freshman who has submitted all required admissions documents by 1/15. Student must be a Texas resident. For families whose AGI is below $65,000, the Cougar Promise will cover full tuition and fees.
- UTD- The Comet Promise covers tuition and fees for families who meet the requirements: Student must be a Texas resident, apply and complete the FAFSA or TAFSA by 2/15, have a family income of $100,000 or less, demonstrate financial need on FAFSA or TAFSA.

HOPE'S DOOR NEW BEGINNING CENTER
Hope's Door provides hope and healing to survivors of domestic violence and their children. They are also our Love Week recipient this year. They provide shelter, adult and child trauma support, and legal support to families and individuals affected by intimate partner violence.
