Favorites of Deacon Mark and Deacon Mike - Lent/Easter Edition!
Deacon Mark & Deacon Mike were kind to answer a few questions about their favorites for Lent/Easter. I hope you enjoy reading their responses!
- What is your favorite "meatless" meal for Fridays in Lent?
- Dcn. Mark: Smoke Salmon Sandwich
- Dcn. Mike: Fried shrimp & oysters are my favorite, but not much of a sacrifice. My favorite sacrificial meatless meal is tuna casserole.
- What is one piece of advice you'd like to share with youth to help them finish the 2nd half of Lent?
- Dcn. Mark: Ask God to reveal the beauty of Lent to you.
- Dcn. Mike: Read and heed Isaiah 58: 6-7. True fasting is more than simply giving up something for Lent. We are also obliged to share and care for the poor.
- What is your favorite tradition (or moment) within the Church during Lent, Triduum, and/or Easter?
- Dcn. Mark: Chrism Mass and Easter Vigil
- Dcn. Mike: Easter Vigil Mass. It is long, but very meaningful for me.
- What is your favorite Lent/Easter tradition outside the Church?
- Dcn. Mark: Gathering with family on Easter Sunday afternoon
- Dcn. Mike: Family gatherings and meals on Easter Sunday

April Devotion - The Holy Eucharist
The month of April is dedicated to the Holy Eucharist, which is the sacrament of the Body and Blood of Christ. The Eucharist is central to the Catholic faith, as it represents the real presence of Christ in the world. During the month of April, Catholics are encouraged to deepen their devotion to the Eucharist through various practices, such as attending Eucharistic Adoration and participating in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. Eucharistic Adoration is a practice that involves spending time in prayer and contemplation in front of the Blessed Sacrament, which is a consecrated host that represents the real presence of Christ. This practice allows Catholics to deepen their relationship with Christ and express their love and gratitude for His sacrifice.
Saint of the Month & Feast Days
April 25th - St. Mark, the Evangelist
April 29th - St. Catherine of Siena
