Note: This weekly newsletter is being sent to all of our enrolled families, both those at the Broadway K-8 campus and those whose students attend class at Operation Breakthrough, so that all families are aware of upcoming events.

Family conferences are this week! We strongly encourage all families to attend, as your participation is vital to your child's success. If you haven't already signed up for a conference time with your child's teacher, click here to access a list of all conference signup links. All students will receive their first quarter progress reports during conferences, and students in grades 4-8 who participated in the MAP Assessment at Citizens last year will receive their 2024 MAP scores as well.

Please take note of these many important reminders about conference week:

• Clubs will not take place this week but will resume next week.
• There is no CampFire on Tuesday and Wednesday, October 29th and 30th due to conferences.
• The Scholastic Book Fair will be taking place in the music room - don't forget to stop by!
• While you're in the building, please make sure you also visit the Art Room for the Arts Showcase!
• The lost & found items will be available in the lobby for families to look through.
• The October Pop-Up Pantry will be happening in the lobby. No prior sign-up or qualifications are required. If you have any questions contact Jessie Cox.

Additionally: There is no school on Thursday, October 31st and Friday, November 1st for conferences and fall break!

The Scholastic Book Fair happening this week! Classes will preview the fair during the school day tomorrow, and students can return with their families during conferences to make purchases.

The book fair will only be open for purchases during Family Conferences, so please do not send money to school with your students.

We still need volunteers to cover shifts! Please consider signing up for a 2-hour shift during conferences to help our book fair run smoothly!

Here are some highlights from the October meeting of the Board of Directors:

• The Board approved the 2024-2025 Employee Handbook, with highlights including an additional PTO day for 11-month employees, expanding our PTO buy-back policy, an increase in our paid parental leave policy, and increased discretion for the Executive Director to apply paid Parental and Bereavement leave, and a supportive lactation policy.
• The Board approved 2024-2025 Family Handbook, with a focus on making it more of a resource for families. No substantive changes were made, other than clarity on the Student Illness & Medications sections. The English version of the updated Family Handbook can be found on the website now, and the Spanish version will be available in the next week or two.
• The Brand Identity Committee provided an update on ongoing discussions with CWCS.
• We continue to be in excellent financial shape!
• Dr. Miles provided an update on ongoing discussions with KCPS regarding their potential upcoming bond issue.
