Help us keep the Student Store running smoothly and make lunchtime special for our students!

MMS Parent Club is looking for volunteers to help run our Student Store. This is a fun and easy way to get involved and connect with students during their lunchtime. Shifts are Monday through Friday (except minimum days) from 10:45 AM to 12:45 PM. Even helping with just one shift a month makes a big difference!

Our Parent Club needs support in many other ways as well. We are looking for parents to help with spirit wear, honor roll prizes, teacher appreciation events, decorating for dances, and more. Parent club is the only reason we are able to host dances, activities, and clubs. Please volunteer for one event, or learn more, by emailing kimberlycox0417@gmail.com

The Intra-District Transfer Application (IDA) process is now fully online. Current 7th grade students do not need to reapply for 8th grade. However, if you are a parent of an 8th grade student and plan to have your child attend a high school outside of their school of residence, you must complete an IDA application. The first step is to request an IDA from your designated high school. Please note that paper forms are no longer available; the application must be completed online. The deadline is February 1st, just two weeks away!

• Thank you to the Parent Club for a fun dance! We are looking forward to our next activity. We will be having a game day on March 13 to wrap up our quarter activities.

• Friday we will celebrate Lunar New Year with games, prizes, and music at lunch.

• This week's 7th grade reward card winners were Aubrie P., Gwenyth D. and Juan F. 8th grade winners were Landon Highfill, Shyanne T., Dario L., Farrah D. and Aryanna B. Great job Grizzlies!

• PSAT sign-ups are taking place right now. 8th graders can sign up by filling out the form on Ms. Kemp's Google Classroom. If you have any questions please contact Mrs. Gandy (ogandy@lodiusd.net) in room 216.

• We are wrapping up our Smashball season. We have 3 games left. All winners will be entered into a raffle. Raffle winners will be announced on Friday.

PE make-ups are all of next week (January 27-31). Students will meet one of the PE teachers at the outside courts at 2:30 after school. Students will earn participation points by completing one mile under 20 minutes. Students can make up their missed running scores by completing the mile for a timed grade.

8th Grade Math students have an important Unit Test coming up on Friday (1/31)! We will be holding two special Sip N' Solve events (on 1/29 & 1/30) to prepare. Students will be able to enjoy a cold soda or juice while practicing solving systems with the help of teachers and student tutors.

A sign-up form is posted in their math Google Classroom. This is a first come, first serve event! Spaces are limited!

Attention, Millswood students! An exciting opportunity is here for you to make a real difference in our community. The San Joaquin County District Attorney's Office is teaming up with Radiant Life Church to bring The A.C.T. (A Community Transformed) Project to Millswood!

This is your chance to identify a need in our community and take action to address it. Here’s how it works:
1️⃣ Write an essay describing a specific need in our community, what would it take to meet that need and how you can be a part of the solution.
2️⃣ The A.C.T. team will review the essays and select several students to help act on their solution.

Tokay High 2025-2026:

Orientation for current 8th grade students is Thursday, February 20th at 6:00 PM in their main gym.

Middle College 2025-2026 has already had their parent nights and presented to our students 2nd quarter. Applications are due January 31st.

Millswood is hosting our incoming 7th grade orientation on March 4th at 6:00 pm for parents and guardians only. Students will be invited to a rally orientation that same morning at 9:15.

This is a free program for middle school students. Free while on spring and summer breaks that offers great opportunities.

CALIFORNIA'S DAYLIGHTING LAW AB 413

We are excited to announce our collaboration with the City of Lodi to help raise awareness about California’s new traffic law, AB 413. This legislation introduces important changes at improving road safety and ensuring responsible driving practices across the state.

As a community, it’s vital that we stay informed about laws that impact our daily lives. AB 413 prohibits the stopping, standing, or parking of a vehicle within 20 feet of the vehicle approach side of any marked or unmarked crosswalk or within 15 feet of any crosswalk where a curb extension/bulbout is present, whether or not the curb is painted red. This is a safety measure known as “Daylighting”. Effective January 2025, the rules will be applied whether or not the curb is painted red.

Please note: Students were given two lanyards with IDs at the start of the year, free of cost. A replacement can be purchased in the office for $3: lanyard, ID and plastic cover. If they need just an ID card, it is $1. The plastic sleeves are always free and available at the student store. If a student forgets their lanyard we will loan them one for the day. If they need to borrow a lanyard 3 times in a week, they will be assigned Thursday School.
