Notes from the Family Ambassador
I'm excited to see everyone at the Back to School Bash on Thursday night. Looks like the weather is going to cooperate with us this time around. We are still looking for some parent volunteers to help the event run seamlessly. This is a great opportunity to come and meet some of your students friends and parents, to continue to help build community in our school. If you have a moment to lend a hand, please contact our PTA President Erin Davis or use the signup genius at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/409054FAAAA2EAA8-50915382-back.
Also, the PTA will kick off the first book nook of the year on Friday. Your student can come shop and purchase a donated book for just .50 cents during the school day. We are always in need of book donations (especially graphic novels and sports themed books) and volunteers for this monthly event.
Finally, a reminder to all our parents and guardians that Gables will be hosting an Open House on September 24 for all the first through fifth grade classes. This is a great opportunity to come into the school and see what and where your student has been learning. You can make this a special moment by empowering your student to show off their space and school routines and introducing their teachers to you in the classroom setting. Stay engaged with your students and learn what their days look like while they are away from home. Seeing the classroom can be comforting to you and your student so you all have a better understanding of their school experience. I'm sure they have much to show you! Attending events like the Open House set a foundation for a positive partnership between parents, teachers, and the school and help our students and families to have a great year!
Come and introduce yourself to me, I will be there, and I can point you in the right direction and help with any questions. We love to learn. Go get'em Gators!

Flu Shot Clinic
Stay Healthy with Flu Vaccine Clinics
We have some really good news for you! Did you know that vaccines can help keep you healthy and protected from getting sick? There is a special clinic happening at your student's school where they can get the flu shot. And guess what? The vaccine is absolutely FREE for everyone at the school in grades K-12, including the teachers and staff.
The clinic will take place at Gables Elementary on OCTOBER 1st, 2024.
Return completed paper consent by SEPTEMBER 25th 2024.
Register online at redcap.columbus.gov/surveys/?s=99A47HMDK4WTRPXH
Here's what you can expect at the vaccine clinic:
- Getting Vaccinated: The nurses at the clinic are trained to give your student the vaccines they need. It's quick and doesn't hurt too much!
- Learning about Vaccines: If you have any questions, don't worry! The nurses will happily answer them and explain why vaccines are important. They keep us safe and healthy!
- Free Vaccines: You don't have to worry about paying any money because all the vaccines at the clinic are completely free. It doesn't matter how much money you have; everyone can get vaccinated.
- Easy to Reach: The clinic will be at school, so your student won't have to go very far. We want it to be easy for everyone at school to go; they won't miss any school activities.
- Your Privacy Matters: Your student's information is private and safe. The people at the clinic will not share it, and nobody else will know about their health information.
The goal of the vaccine clinic is to keep you and everyone at your school heathy and safe.
By getting vaccinated, your student can protect themselves from getting sick with the flu.
To get the most up-to-date information about the vaccine clinic at the school you can ask the school nurse or call (614)645-9653.
So, let's not wait. Make sure to sign up your student for the vaccine clinic, get vaccinated and stay healthy!

Picture Day Information
What to expect on Picture Day
- When an order is placed online, the parent/guardian will receive a camera pass via email. This can either be printed or texted to the student and brought to picture day. The photographer will photograph the printed camera pass along with the student.
- If a student is not able to print their camera pass, that is not a problem. We will match up the student to their order manually in the production process.
- A parent may order from the flyer up until 24 hours after picture day. After 24 hours, the online ordering access may close. This will allow our imaging team to "Pull" all orders submitted and match them with the students photographed.
- When pictures are returned to school, all students that purchased pictures will receive their prepaid package. Any student that was photographed but did not order a package, will receive a "Proof" (PX) of their picture that was taken on picture day.
All proof packages offer parents a second opportunity to order prints. All orders are subject to shipping and handling costs of up to $8.50 and will be shipped directly to home.
MORE INFORMATION WILL BE COMING HOME VIA PAPER FLYER
