Cambridge November Highlights

November was a busy and exciting month at Cambridge Elementary! Here's a glimpse of what we accomplished together:

🌟 Financial Literacy Workshop
We partnered with SchoolsFirst to host an engaging presentation on financial literacy. Parents and families learned valuable tips on managing finances and understanding credit scores, empowering them with tools for financial success.

🌟 First Community Schools Council Meeting
We held our first Community Schools Council meeting of the school year, where parents, staff, and community members collaborated to identify the amazing resources already available at Cambridge. Together, we brainstormed ideas for new opportunities and support that could benefit our students and families.

🌟 A Magical Book Fair
Our school hosted a delightful Book Fair, giving students the chance to explore and shop for books they love. It was heartwarming to see our students so excited about reading and discovering new stories.

Thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to making November such a meaningful month for our Cambridge community. We can’t wait to see what we accomplish together in December!

Nuestra escuela organizó una encantadora feria del libro, que les dio a los estudiantes la oportunidad de explorar y comprar los libros que aman. Fue reconfortante ver a nuestros estudiantes tan entusiasmados por leer y descubrir nuevas historias.

🌟 First Community Schools Council Meeting

We are thrilled to share highlights from our first Community Schools Council meeting of the year, where we united parents, staff, and community members to strengthen our support for Cambridge students and families.

During the meeting, we celebrated the wonderful resources already available at Cambridge and collected valuable feedback through a needs and assets assessment, as well as an open discussion focus group. The turnout was fantastic, and it was inspiring to hear everyone's ideas and perspectives.

As part of the event, we participated in a meaningful symbolic activity: planting our dreams for Cambridge in small pots filled with soil and marigold seeds. This activity reminded us that, like these plants, our dreams for the school require care, attention, and dedication to flourish.

🌟 Primera reunión del Consejo de Escuelas Comunitarias

Estamos encantados de compartir los aspectos más destacados de nuestra primera reunión del Consejo de Escuelas Comunitarias del año, donde unimos a padres, personal y miembros de la comunidad para fortalecer nuestro apoyo a los estudiantes y las familias de Cambridge.

Durante la reunión, celebramos los maravillosos recursos que ya están disponibles en Cambridge y recopilamos comentarios valiosos a través de una evaluación de necesidades y activos, así como un grupo de discusión abierta. Empowering Families Through Financial Education

This month, Cambridge Elementary hosted the Know Your Credit: How Credit Affects Your Life workshop, a free educational event for parents. During the session, families gained valuable insights into the importance of credit and how it impacts daily life.

Participants learned about:

• How credit usage and loans work
• Factors that influence credit scores

The workshop emphasized that it’s never too early or too late to understand credit and take steps toward financial well-being. Together, we’re building a stronger future for our families and community! Thank you to everyone who joined us for this informative event.

Empoderando a las familias a través de la educación financiera

Este mes, la escuela primaria Cambridge organizó el taller Conozca su crédito: cómo el crédito afecta su vida, un evento educativo gratuito para padres. Durante la sesión, las familias adquirieron conocimientos valiosos sobre la importancia del crédito y cómo afecta la vida diaria.

Los participantes aprendieron sobre:

Our school hosted a delightful Book Fair, sparking excitement and joy for reading among our students. During their assigned library time, students had the opportunity to explore and shop for books they love. Families were also invited to join in the fun, with after-school shopping sessions that brought everyone together to celebrate the joy of reading.

It was truly heartwarming to see our students discovering new stories and sharing their enthusiasm for books with their loved ones! 📚✨

Nuestra escuela organizó una encantadora Feria del Libro, que despertó el entusiasmo y la alegría por la lectura entre nuestros estudiantes. As part of our community-based learning initiative, we celebrated Día de los Muertos this October with a special exhibit at our Parent Community Center. Our talented Spanish Cultural Club created a beautiful ofrenda altar to honor this meaningful tradition. It was a wonderful opportunity for our families to learn about the significance of this cultural celebration and experience the rich history behind it.

Como parte de nuestra iniciativa de aprendizaje comunitaria, celebramos el Día de los Muertos este octubre con una exhibición especial en nuestro Centro Comunitario para Padres. Nuestro talentoso Club Cultural Español creó un hermoso altar de ofrendas para honrar esta significativa tradición. Fue una oportunidad maravillosa para que nuestras familias aprendieran sobre el significado de esta celebración cultural y experimentaran la rica historia que hay detrás de ella.

Free Farmers Market at Cambridge, marking our 8th year partnering with Second Harvest Food Bank! Through their Mobile School Pantry program, we provide fresh, nutritious food for our students and their families.

A huge thank you to our amazing volunteers—your dedication makes it possible for us to run this program every month. We’re so grateful for your support in helping our community access healthy meals year after year!

I had the wonderful opportunity to join fellow community leads from OUSD in preparing backpacks for our McKinney-Vento students. It was truly rewarding to contribute and support these students in making a difference in their lives!
