Message from the Principal: Back to School Night
Dear Westridge Community,
As you know, now that we are back in school we are just as intent on staying in school. We are making decisions centered on protecting the health and safety of our community and ensuring students’ successful full time instruction.
Monday, October 4th is Westridge’s Back to School Night. We have been considering many different options on how to connect with our parents/guardians/caregivers in a way that suits most everyone. We shared considerations with the district’s medical advisory committee and our teachers and staff.
Our Westridge Back to School Night 2021 will be hosted via Zoom Monday, October 4. You will be receiving a Zoom link from your child’s teacher. During Back to School Night, you will be able to view a short video from me with messages from all of the groups you would typically hear from in the gymnasium (in addition to the teacher presentation/Q&A).
If you have children at other schools, please note that each school may do Back to School Night a little differently this year. Schools will be considering the best options for the community when their nights are near.
Thank you for your understanding as we make decisions to minimize the potential for exposure in our schools with the need to connect with our community.
Sincerely,
Jules Laaperi

Technology Consent/Device Damage and Loss Protection Plan
Hello LOSD Families,
Each student must have a Technology Consent form on file each year.
The District is once again offering a Device Damage and Loss Protection Plan to ease the financial obligation if your student's District Device is damaged or lost.
When you fill out the Tech Consent form, you will "accept" or "decline" participation in the Protection Plan. The cost is $20 per student, with a family maximum of $60. Participation in the program is completely optional. Fee waivers are available for those with financial need.
Click HERE to directly access the 2021-2022 Technology Consent form.
Please fill out one form per student. Payment instructions will be communicated to participating families. For a complete description of the Device Damage and Loss Protection Program, please visit the District's website at https://www.losdschools.org/Page/7761

PTSO News!
Thank you so much to all who made it to our first PTSO General Meeting last night. Save the date for our next meeting on October 14th.
Fundraising- While the year may look different, we want to be able to offer our kids the same amazing opportunities and experiences that Westridge is known for. The only way that we can do that is by hitting our fundraising goals of $100,000. Please see the flyer in your students folder that was sent home today for the break down of where those funds go. Our fundraiser goes for the next 30 days and we hope to surpass our goal. We recommend $300/student but any amount is appreciated. Your donation is 100% tax deductible and should be eligible for corporate matching so please ask your employer. To make your donation, use this QR code.

i Ready:
This Fall, all students in Grades 1-8 will complete two online i-Ready assessments in class. One is for math and the other is for reading. i-Ready is a program that will help us determine your child’s strengths and areas for growth, personalize their learning, and monitor their progress throughout the school year. i-Ready allows us to meet your child where they are and provides us with data to inform and tailor instruction to accelerate growth. This is the first of three i-Ready assessments we give each year, and results will be shared with parents in October.
The i-Ready Diagnostic is an adaptive assessment that adjusts its questions to suit your child’s skill level. Each item a student receives is based on their answer to the previous question. For example, a series of correct answers will result in slightly harder questions, while a series of incorrect answers will yield slightly easier ones. The purpose of this is not to give your child a score or grade but to determine how to best support their learning.
In Lake Oswego, the Fall i-Ready window is open from September 7 to October 8.
