Senior Day!
FP Staff and Seniors were able to spend a fun filled day together on Wednesday with several outdoor activities, cap decorating, video games and an epic staff and student water balloon fight. Senior awards and scholarships were also announced along with a senior video to wrap things up and send the Class of 2021 on their way into the world.
Can Seniors decorate their graduation caps?
CAP DECORATIONS
- Not required.
- Decorated caps SHOULD express gratitude toward loved ones, recognition for the university or career path you’re pursuing, inspirational quote, recognition of your culture, and other creative, positive messages or images that represent YOU.
- Decorated caps MUST NOT contain any references to drugs, alcohol, weapons, sex, gangs, violence, hate groups, obscenities, profanities, vulgarities, or defamation of others.
- Suggestion: Do not write, paint, or draw directly onto your cap. Instead, trace your cap onto scrapbooking paper or cardboard and decorate that.
- Inappropriate or even “questionable” caps will not be allowed. We do not have replacement caps for you. No cap = No participation in the graduation ceremony.

Cardinal Sports!
FPHS Athletes and Families,
Thank you for the continuous support of our teams and our athletic department. Season 3… The last and final season of 2021 is winding down to an end. It has been a great experience getting our athletes back out this year and we will use this momentum to carry us into the 2021-22 school year.
Season 3
The boys basketball team is currently 1st place in the SPSL and look to wrap up strong with really tough games down the stretch. Tonight they will play Clover Park HS at home. On Saturday they will host Whiter River. White River is the only other undefeated team in league play and this game could have a major impact on league post season position.
Girls Basketball is currently 4-1 with league wins coming against Eatonville, Foss, and Fife. The girls will be playing Clover Park at Clover Park tonight and then will head up to White River HS on Saturday to face off against league leading White River HS.
Boys and Girls Wrestling will be heading down to the Puyallup fair-grounds this Saturday for the 2A SPSL wrestling tournament. For this event the fan attendance regulations that limit fans will not be in effect and each wrestler can have as many visiting fans as they would like. This is possible because of the limited number of wrestlers competing in the tournament and the capacity of the venue.
Boys Tennis has been almost unstoppable this year. They have been able to defeat every league opponent this year except for a hard fought and close matchup with Fife HS. The league tournament will be June 8th and June 10th at Clover Park HS. Both days will have an 8am start.
Girls Bowling has a varsity group of girls that have really come together over the short season. The girls team this year broke the single day pin record. This year’s league tournament will be held at paradise Lanes on June 11th and games will start at 1PM.
Fan Regulations
At Franklin Pierce HS we will be allowing 4 fans per rostered athlete. The athlete must be on the teams official roster. For visiting fan guidelines please refer to the fan regulations chart below when visiting one of the nine other league member schools. Schools are handling fans differently and some are beginning to charge admission once again in order to be able to attend.

Assessment Updates:
State Testing
Washington State is currently working with the Biden administration to seek a waiver to "skip" state testing this year. If this does not get approved at the federal level, we will conduct the Smarter Balanced Assessment (SBA) in Math and ELA as well as the Washington Comprehensive Assessment of Science (WCAS). If this is the case, state assessments will be administered this Spring. We've also learned that assessments will have fewer questions and prompts than previous non-Covid years. More information to come.
College Board Testing
These exams include PSAT, SAT, and AP exams. In Fall, FPS decided not to offer PSAT or SAT due to Covid restrictions and College Board requirements. Recently, our region has moved to the moderate Covid phase which allows us to bring more students back in a variety of settings. We are reviewing our current safety protocols and testing guidelines to see how we can provide opportunities for students to access these assessments this Spring.
At this time, you can expect that students enrolled in AP courses will be taking the AP exam in Spring. Testing may take place remotely or in person. We are currently in the planning stage and will notify families as soon as our plan is set.
For all College Board exams, preparation materials and resources can be found on their website. https://www.collegeboard.org
Update on AP testing!!!
AP Exams are quickly approaching. All AP students received an email a few weeks ago asking them to choose between testing at home or testing at school. If a student did not complete the survey in the email, then it is assumed they will test on campus. Students are required to take their exam during the scheduled time; Please make sure your student is on time. It is important that students have accessed their college board online account BEFORE test day. If you are testing on campus on a Wednesday, please email Mrs. Plaskett (lplaskett@fpschools.org) by Tuesday, May 18 if you need to ride the bus. On the day of testing students will need to bring a fully charged school laptop, laptop charger, pencils, and a water bottle. It is important that students use their school laptop and not a personal one. All students testing on site for testing will receive a lunch. Please follow the AP exam link below to review testing dates and times. If you are scheduled for an afternoon exam (1PM) please make sure you have transportation arranged as the test could go until 4pm. Students are welcome to ride the activity bus home after afternoon testing. If you are testing on campus on a day your cohort is remote, please do not worry. You can be on campus for testing. More information will be provided to students next week. Feel free to reach out to Mrs. Plaskett-Rosario with questions.
