Chapel of the Cross Faith & Family
Family Bible time for the week of April 5-April 11
Welcome to Chapel's Faith & Family!
This interactive Bible Time is a little different this week. Because this is Holy Week, there are a number of things for your family to watch, read, and do throughout the week to help you think about all that Jesus our Savior did for us. Do a little something each day as you remember and thank Jesus for His great love and sacrifice for you.

Palm Sunday
The Triumphal Entry: John 12:12-19
Palm Sunday Video
What do you see people doing? What are the people saying?
Talk about It
- The word Hosanna means "Save us now." Why do you think people were shouting "Hosanna" to Jesus?
- Parades are usually happy and joyful. Do you think Jesus was happy or sad as He rode into Jerusalem?
The people had seen all the amazing miracles that Jesus had done, and they were hoping He would be the Messiah who would save them from the rule of the Romans. Jesus came not to be an earthly king, but a heavenly King who would save the people from their sins.
Jesus was happy to see the crowds and receive their praise. He had come to save them and all people. But Jesus knew that in just a few days, the crowds would be crying, "Crucify Him!"

Maundy Thursday
Jesus Washes the Disciples' Feet: John 13:1-17
Maundy Thurdsday Video
What did Jesus say to His disciples as they ate the Passover together that night?
Talk about It
- What did Jesus teach us by washing His disciples' feet?
- When have you heard the words that Jesus said to His disciples at the Last Supper?
Jesus humbled Himself by doing a job that usually servants did--washing dirty feet. Jesus was teaching His disciples, and us, how to love and serve one another.
Every time we celebrate Communion at church, we hear the words that Jesus spoke on Maundy Thursday as He gave His disciples the bread and the wine. When we receive Communion, we receive the true body and blood of Jesus for the forgiveness of our sins.

Good Friday
Good Friday Introduction with Ken and Denny
Jesus' Trial and Crucifixion
Talk about It
- What did the people think that Jesus had done wrong?
- Why did Jesus let Himself be crucified?
Jesus healed and forgave many people, saying and showing that He is God. Some of the church leaders thought that Jesus was pretending to be God, a sin punishable by death at that time. Those leaders also didn't like that people were listening to Jesus instead of them.
Jesus had power to stop the crowds and the soldiers, but He allowed them to hurt Him because it was all part of God's great plan to save us from our sins. When Jesus died on the cross, He took the punishment of all our sins on Himself. Because Jesus died for our sins, we will have eternal life with Him in heaven!
