ONLINE LEARNING SUPPORTS
Miss Peters
Staying motivated while tackling coursework can be tough, but there are plenty of ways to make it more manageable! Begin by setting specific, realistic goals for each study session—this gives you a target to aim for and a nice boost of satisfaction when you achieve it. Break your assignments into smaller, bite-sized pieces to avoid feeling overwhelmed. Consider using a timer, like the Pomodoro technique, to maintain your focus, allowing for short breaks in between. It’s also beneficial to treat yourself after finishing tasks, whether it’s a little snack, a fun activity, or some downtime. And don’t forget, consistency is crucial—stick to a routine and keep a positive mindset, even when challenges arise!

Make a plan of action.
"The more the plans fail, the more the planner's plan." Ronald Reagan
January signals the start of a new year, providing an opportunity to reflect on the future. With upcoming deadlines and exams, it's the perfect time to get organized. Begin by gathering all your key dates for the year. Then, input these into a calendar or planner; seeing your obligations laid out can help you develop efficient study and revision plans. While organizing, think about the time you'll need and any materials you may require, like particular websites, books, and resources from your digital library.
Don't forget to tap into your networking and resources.
“Coming together is a beginning, staying together is progress, and working together is success.”– Henry Ford
It's important to take time to connect with your academic teachers. For online assistance, feel free to contact your teacher during their available hours. Michael Ketterman, the Online Academic Learning Support Teacher, is hosting a regular Zoom meeting for this purpose, which you can join conveniently from Monday to Friday between 11 am and 1 pm. Here’s the link to participate: https://wssd-k12-pa-us.zoom.us/j/83668397353?pwd=PNyvj3Hdp0yhWrnGoE669Q52xlGhpU.1 with Meeting ID: 836 6839 7353.
Ask Questions
“Successful people ask better questions, and as a result, they get better answers. “– Tony Robbins
Whether it’s a quiz question or a final report, make sure you understand what your instructors expect of you. If you’re unsure, just ask! Another classmate probably has the same question, so you’ll be helping yourself and others succeed. Your instructors will appreciate the feedback too.
Limit Distractions and transform your study area into a more inspiring environment.
January is the perfect time to start fresh, and one awesome way to do that is by sprucing up your study space. Set up your little classroom at home by choosing a quiet spot, shutting the door, and putting up a fun sign to let everyone know you’re in study mode. Add some motivational quotes around to boost your inspiration!
“There are no shortcuts to any place worth going” - Beverly Sills
“Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out.” – Robert Collier.
It's helpful to maintain a distinction between your workspace and living space, allowing your mind to transition smoothly between work and relaxation.

I hope everyone had a restful and enjoyable break. As we are about to step into the second half of the school year, it’s time to come back re-energized and ready to dive back into the exciting opportunities ahead. The fresh start after a well-deserved break gives us all a chance to refocus and set our sights on the goals we’ve set for the remainder of the year.
We’re entering the second semester with enthusiasm, and I’m excited to see the continued growth, hard work, and accomplishments of our students. Let’s embrace this time to build on the knowledge and skills we’ve already gained while looking forward to the challenges and successes ahead.
Always remember you have access to your teachers during their office hours. Please reach out with any questions or concerns you may have.
