In an effort to create life-long learners, the staff at Westridge Elementary School, working closely with parents and community, strives to realize each child's fullest potential in the areas of personal, social, intellectual, emotional, and physical development.

Dear Westridge Families,

We completed our benchmarking assessments in reading this week. We will continue to do our benchmarking assessments for math next week. Please help us make sure that students are well rested and get a good breakfast in the morning, so they can do their best on their tests.

We have two more weeks until winter break. Winter break will begin on Monday, December 23rd until Friday, January 3rd. The 2nd quarter will end on December 20th. However, report cards will be sent home once we get back from winter break on January 10th.

If your family is aware of any dates that your child will be missing school, please be sure to notify your child's classroom teacher ahead of time. It is always helpful when we know if students are going to be gone in advance.

Hello Westridge Families,

This month’s focus in classroom guidance lessons was Honesty. One way to think about Honesty is “being truthful in what you say and do.” Practicing Honesty helps strengthen our relationships and even reduces stress. Across grade levels, students practiced developing skills like emotion regulation, positive self-talk, and stress-management. Check out specific skills for your child(ren) on their grade level newsletter.

One way to practice these skills at home is to set aside some time to gather as a family and check in with each other. Ask each family member, “How are you feeling today?” Practice Honesty when responding and listen carefully as each family member shares. Use the emotion check-in questions to learn more.

● Why do you think you are feeling that emotion?

● What do you need right now?
