I’m not sure about you, but I’m still buzzing about our Matariki Lunch last Thursday! We were blown away with the huge turnout. Additionally, we thank you for your feedback and note that we will celebrate Matariki with another lunch in 2025!

PaCT Conferences - Mid Year 2024
I would like to thank our school families/ whānau for attending their children’s PaCT Conferences on Wednesday/ Thursday evening. Strong mutual relationships between home and school are vital for the success of our ākonga (learners). We are immensely proud of the turnout. Our initial target was for 75% attendance from parents/ whānau. The official turnout percentage was 75%! If you were unable to make it to the PaCT conferences, please phone or email the school and we can arrange an alternative time to discuss your child's learning.
Kia ora

Matariki 2024 - Nga Mihi
A huge thank you to our amazing sponsors for this year's Matariki lunch. We have received many comments about the delicious food and what an awesome example this was, of our school community coming together to celebrate students learning about our newest Public Holiday and embrace our Maori culture. Thanks also to our wonderful Sausage Sizzle helpers, it is no mean feat to cook 450 sausages in a short space of time and to our amazing support staff for the mahi behind the scenes. We appreciate you all .Ka mihi matou ki a koutou katoa.
Manaakitanga Award 2024
Student voice and choice is the foundation of this award. The nominees are selected and voted for, by the students. One senior and one junior student are chosen as the recipients, and this award is presented around Matariki each year.
The winners of this award are good team players! They are happy to take on any role in a group, not just the leader. They are cooperative, work well with others and are respectful of others ideas and opinions. They also recognise and celebrate the strengths of their peers.
This years nominees were:
Year 7-8 Jayden Stockley, Aaliyah McLaren, Victoria Forsman
Years 3-6 Annabel Mead, Carter Mold, Shivam Patel, Isla Wagstaff, Luke McCabe and Eva Dromgool
Congratulations to Shivam Patel and Aaliyah McLaren
We are very proud of you both. Ka nui to matou whakahīhī ki a kōrua
Disco - Term 3 - 25th July in the Rec Centre

Netball 2024
Wednesday saw the last day of Junior Netball for 2024...Where did that Term go? Finals day was a huge success, and it is wonderful to see all our players and supporters really getting into the spirit of the day.
A huge thank you to all of our wonderful parents involved in the Year 1 - 4 Fun ferns, but especially to Kristina Watts, Hannah Shands, Sandra Harris, Avrill Coombe, Lisa Gwynne and Ingrid Naudé for being courageous and taking the lead in these sessions.
The kids had a great time, learnt lots of new skills, hopefully have caught the netball bug and loved the goody bags!
We had two Year 5/6 teams this year, and definitely saw the growth in these players under the guidance of Elle Holder and Kelly Ward. Stanley Ave Silver won through to the final and played an awesome game showing an amazing skillset. The team took the win over TAPs and were awarded the Kris Turner Cup for the first round and the Clarke Trophy for the championship round. Congratulations team!
Stanley Ave Gold had some good wins and hard fought losses along the way this season and even took the next step to understanding the 7 aside game at a tournament in Waihi. Great job Team.
Our Year 7/8 teams also had great seasons but for different reasons. Stanley Ave Blue under the watchful eye of Miss Griffin, undertook a learning journey like no other. With very limited netball knowledge, this team ended up winning a play off game in extra time, so exciting for the players and such a joy to see this excitement in their faces. Well done to you all.
Stanley Ave Teal, won through to the final against TAPs and although not the victors on the day, can be very proud of the skill level and drive shown during this game and the amazing brand of netball that was on show. They are the 2024 Runners up for both the opening round and the championship round. Thank you to Ally Van Kuijk for your unwavering commitment and guidance of these young Future ferns. Well done on a great season.
The support on the sidelines for both finals was amazing and I am sure helped the players give it their all.
A huge thank you to all of the Umpires and especially to the College and Year 7/8 umpires this season. I have said this before, but umpiring any sport is not easy and often a thankless job. To put yourself in the limelight, while you are learning a new skill takes courage. We applaud you and thank you for your efforts each week.
Junior Netball would not happen without the support of all these volunteers. A huge thank you to you all. From personal experience, I know how rewarding it is to be involved in your child's sport and the time spent with not only your child, but also their friends, is invaluable and memory building. Please consider getting involved in 2025.
Have a wonderful holidays...Go the Magic!
Kind regards
Kim Hayes
