Craddock's Weekly Update
For the Weeks of November 18th and 25th, 2024
Happy Friday Craddock Families!
We began and ended this week in fine fashion here at Craddock with our annual Veterans Day celebration on Monday and then wrapping up Kindness Week today! Many thanks to all of our Veterans and their guests for taking time to come celebrate with us on November 11th! Our Cub Scouts helped to begin the celebration by processing in with the flag and helping to lead us in the Pledge of Allegiance. Our first and second graders then sang special songs for them! Check out a little video snippet below! It was a very special morning and the Veterans, staff, students and our guests made it so! Our final gratitude goes to our PTO for their wonderful support of this event. From the star cookies to the extra hands for set up and clean up, we couldn't have done it without them!
This is just a reminder that Craddock's Trimester 1 Gather portal is live for all of our families to access. Teachers passed out some directions on how to get into the portal during conferences last week and they can also be found below. If you need any assistance or have any questions at all, don't hesitate to reach out!
This edition of the Weekly Update will carry us through the Thanksgiving holiday. The next edition will be out for the week of December 2nd! Please know how much gratitude our staff has for all the love and support you provide us as we help your child learn and grow each day. We can't tell you how much it means to us. We are so lucky to work with the MOST AMAZING 1st and 2nd graders on the planet, as well as their WONDERFUL families.
Best wishes for a wonderful holiday and safe travels to all of you heading to visit family and/or friends!
Sincerely,
Kim Stewart, Principal

Update from Craddock's School Counselor, Mrs. Schnur
Hello Craddock Families!
Can you believe that we are already through the first trimester of the 2024-2025 school year? What a great few months it has been. My second year at Craddock has been more than enjoyable. My main focus this first trimester has been to get to know each and every 1st grade student that fills these walls and get to know the 2nd grade students even better than last year and I have had so much fun in doing so. I have made myself present throughout the building-stopping into classes, visiting the cafeteria and joining the kiddos out at recess. I was able to visit each classroom twice so far for a formal lesson, started small groups, ran reteach groups focusing on our school wide expectations, and worked with many students and their awesome teachers and families. As a school, we did a fun project for Unity Day and more fun is on the way for World Kindness Week November 11th-15th. I always look forward to seeing our school come together to learn such important messages. The lesson topic I focused on for the first couple months of the school year was the zones of regulation! The first time I visited the classroom I discussed what the zones of regulation are and why they are important. Each classroom received a visual to keep in their classroom. The second time I visited the classrooms, I helped the students create a toolbox of coping skills they can use to help them manage their emotions. Some students opted to bring this home because they felt that they needed to use it more at home and some opted to keep it at school because they felt like it would help them more at school! Here is an article to check out if you want to learn more about the zones: What are the Four Zones of Regulation?
I wanted to extend my gratitude to you as you continue to work with your students at home on the important social/emotional skills that will help them be successful in the future! Please know that I am not only here for your students, but also for your family, so please continue to reach out with any questions or concerns you may have. Lastly, with the colder weather approaching please let me know if I can help your family with winter gear. You can reach me by email at cschnur@aurora-schools.org or by calling 330-562-3175 ext. 1135.
Kindly,
Claudia Schnur
House Bill 410
It's that time of year where we begin to have students who meet the benchmarks set forth in HB 410 for absences. Please be aware that if your child meets one of those, a letter must be sent from the school alerting you. Please also be reminded that it doesn't matter whether the absences are excused or unexcused. We have to track the hours missed regardless and communicate to you when benchmarks have been met. If you have any questions or concerns at all upon receiving a letter, don't hesitate to reach out to me! My contact information is in my initial message! I have included an informational document below if you want to learn more.
Transportation for 24-25
Our transportation department has been busy preparing for the 24-25 school year. Tentative bus routes may be available as soon as July 17th to view bus stop locations and times. Please remember these routes are subject to change and should be checked closer to the start of the school year. You will need to log into E-Link Versatrans using the link/button below and follow the log-in procedures to access your child's busing information. https://versatransweb04.tylertech.com/Aurora/elinkrp/Login.aspx
If this is the first time using E-Link, use the following login information.
User name = jane.smith (That is the students name, jane.smith with no spaces. Password = students date of birth 01012018)
Once you are in, go to âWork with studentsâ then âView my studentsâ We also now have GPS on the school buses. You can see when the bus is to arrive at your home.
We also have a Bus Stop App where you can track and monitor your child's bus and receive important updates. If you download âversatrans my stopâ from the app store and sign in using the same information as above.
If you know your child will not be riding the bus no matter what grade, please email the transportation department and let us know so that we can have more accurate routes. Any student being transported to any location other than their home address will need to fill out the "Alternate bus stop form". This form is located on the ACSD website under the Transportation Department Site and is linked below. We ask that the changes made will be a regular schedule. We cannot do requests such as every other week.
All requests or changes to busing can be sent to: transportationinfo@aurora-schools.org
Transportation Information: https://www.aurora-schools.org/administration/transportationoperations
Finally, Craddock Elementary uses a Google Form for attendance and pick-up/drop-off notifications. This is for notification purposes if you will be picking your child up instead of sending them on the bus and does not allow us to make changes to bus stops and locations. All Busing changes must go through transportation.
