The entrance to our building is on the West side facing our surface parking lot and Burnett St., it is not on Taylor St. The surface parking lot entrance is on West 2nd Street (Parking will be validated for those participating/staying at an event. Please bring the ticket up with you and we will provide a sticker barcode that scans to get you out free of charge). You will enter the building on the 2nd floor and then take the elevators to the 5th floor where our office is located.

Tarrant County 4-H Youth Council Officer Nominations
The final, regular County Youth Council meeting will be held Monday, May 20, 2024 at 6:30 p.m. at the Extension Office.
In preparation for the coming year, all 4-H members are encouraged to consider running for officer positions of the CYC. Positions include:
- President
- Vice President
- Secretary/Treasurer
- Reporter/Public Relations
- Parliamentarian
- Historian
- Health & Safety Officer
These individuals serve the Tarrant County 4-H program by guiding the officers at the club level, advising the adult volunteers and Extension agents, and organizing great county-wide events. The CYC meets once a month from August to May on the fourth Monday of the month at 6:30 p.m. *Officers are expected to attend all regular CYC Meetings.
If you have experience as a 4-H officer at the club level and feel that you have talents to share with the whole county, please complete this form.
Per the CYC Bylaws, only current CYC officers, county delegates, or 4-H members who have served as president or vice president of their club are eligible to run for office at the county level. However, exceptions to the requirements will be considered by the Executive Board on a case-by-case basis along with the 4-H County Extension Agent.
(*President, Vice President & District Delegate must be 14 years of age at the time of District Leadership Camp held in June & in 9th grade of upcoming school year)
The deadline for nominations is 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 15, 2024.
Summary of Process:
- Complete the CYC Nomination Form in its entirety. Deadline for nominations is 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 15, 2024
- All candidates are required to give a LIVE speech (2 -3 minutes in length) at the May 20th meeting.
- Speeches should include information on why candidate is running for the chosen position(s) (maximum of two positions).
- All candidates must submit a written version of their live speech for pre-approval within their Nomination Form.
- If candidate is running for two positions, they should submit ONE written speech that talks about why they would be a great candidate for each position.

County 4-H Awards
Now is the time to think about applying for County 4-H Awards! Below you will find information for the Criteria and Merit Based member awards.
Criteria-Based Awards

- The Requirements for Honor Roll or Letterman Awards may be met in one year or over the course of several years. If met over multiple years, it must be while the member is in their current age division.
- If a member has previously received the Honor Roll or Letterman award, they must meet the criteria with all new activities to again be eligible.
- Youth submitting Community Service Awards are NOT required to submit a record book but must complete the application completely and submit logs/records of service.
- Rookie, Honor Roll & Letterman Awards require submission of a 4-H Record book (Due @ Extension Office by June 3, 2024, at 5:00 p.m.)
Merit-Based Awards

- Outstanding New Member – Junior (3-5 grades), Intermediate (6-8 grades), Senior (9-12 grades)
- 4-H Achievement – Junior (3-5 grades), Intermediate (6-8 grades), Senior (9-12 grades). Eligible to receive once per age division.
- Danforth - Senior age division (9-12 grades) only. Eligible to receive once in your 4-H career.
- Gold Star - Senior age division (9-12 grades) only. Eligible to receive once in your 4-H career. Applicants must be 15 years old, with 3 years minimum of 4-H membership, completed a minimum of 3 projects, demonstrated leadership, and completed at least 2 4-H record books.
All Merit-Based Awards require Submission of 4-H Record book (Due @ Extension Office by June 3, 2024, by 5:00 p.m.).
All Merit-Based Awards require applicants to attend an in-person interview with a panel of judges (June 24, 2024).
Gold Star applicants will be required to prepare a short, two-minute speech highlighting their 4-H career. Youth selected to receive the Gold Star will deliver their prepared speech at the County Awards Reception on Thursday, July 25, 2024. Location TBD.

County Record Books Due Date!
Don't forget, Record books are DUE in the office by 5 p.m. on Monday, June 3rd. Please fill out this link if you are submitting a 4-H record book.
SAVE the DATE!
ALL Tarrant County 4-H'ers who submit a record book will be recognized at this event. Awards will also be given out. Record Books are due to the Tarrant County Office on (or before) June 3, 2024.

Collin County Vet Science Camp
We want to invite your 4-H kiddos to our Vet Science Camp!
Registration is now open for our 2024 Vet Science Camp and we are already half way full!!! Everyone is welcome. Limited to the first 35 kiddos.
We have hands on activities planned with veterinarians, agents, and medical professionals. Sessions include goats, magnawave technology, exotic animals, wildlife & conservation, giving injections, suturing, artificial insemination, and MORE!
Camp is July 18 - 19th @ Myers Park in McKinney, TX.
8:30 am - 3:30 pm each day

Texas 4-H Dog Show Entries OPEN!
The 2024 Texas 4-H Dog Show registration is open on 4-H ONLINE. The show will be held at the Walker County Fairgrounds in Huntsville, Texas on July 11-13, 2024.
The deadline for registration is May 15, 2024. DO NOT wait until 4:55 on the last day to enter. It will be difficult for your County Extension Office to help you if you run into problems. From May 16th -22nd , late registration will be open for a $50 late fee. We have added an Extended Late Registration from May 23rd – 28th for $250. There will be NO ENTRIES ACCEPTED after May 28, 2024.

Texas 4-H Foundation Clay Shoot
Please see the flyer below with details for the Clay Shoot benefiting the Texas 4-H Foundation. It is being held June 15, 2024 at Defenders Outdoors in Fort Worth.
Cooperative Extension Program Photography Contest
The 4th annual invitational 4-H Cooperative Extension Program photography contest in open for entries. This is a virtual contest you can upload your photos within the registration link. The deadline for entries is July 15th. This is an invitational contest and is separate from other County, District or state-wide 4-H contests. Everyone ages 8-18 years old is open to submit entries. Only one photo can be submitted per category per age division. H-E-B gift cards will be given to the winners in each category.

Tarrant County Adult Leaders Association Scholarships

Attention: Tarrant County 4-H High School Juniors & Seniors
The Tarrant 4-H Adult Leaders Association is pleased to offer to our junior and/or senior high school 4-H members the opportunity to apply for the following scholarships.
Scholarships will be made in the amount of $500, payable as indicated in this document: ALA Scholarship Guidelines 2024
Mark Green Memorial Scholarship, established in 2008, recognizes those youth of Tarrant County 4-H who have established themselves as avid 4-H members. Mark was an ardent 4-H participant from the time he was a youth. He resonated the values he instilled in the youth of 4-H.
Millie Hurst Memorial Scholarship, established in 1993, recognizes those youth “who do the most work in the 4-H program.” Millie was a highly involved adult leader who encouraged youth to actively pursue their goals.
Applicants should carefully review the ALA Scholarship Guidelines 2024 to determine individual eligibility.

Application deadline is Monday, June 3, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. Original applications must be received in the Tarrant County 4-H office by that time. (Electronic/digital submissions will not be accepted.)
All applicants must attend an in-person interview. Interviews will be held on Monday, June 24, 2024* at the County 4-H Office—interview times will be emailed to applicants mid-June.
Dallas Agricultural Club Scholarships
The Dallas Agricultural Club offers a scholarship opportunity to encourage studies in agriculture or areas related to agriculture. The deadline for students to submit their applications is May 15th. Scholarships will be awarded on July 1st at the club's meeting.

CEP Virtual Youth Lab
2024 CEP Virtual Youth Lab will be July 16-19, 2024.
The Youth Lab summer program reaches underserved teens in 8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th grades from throughout the State of Texas. The 4-H and Youth Development Unit of the College of Agriculture and Human Sciences at Prairie View A&M University hosts the virtual camp to introduce young people to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) careers in agriculture. There are two overarching goals of this program:
This year’s theme is “Bee the Change” and will focus on pollinators. The agenda for this program is set up with fun, exciting, and educational activities filled with guest speakers, virtual field trips, hands on activities and more.

Camp Third Coast
Camp Third Coast’s registration opens at 8:00 AM on May 1st, and we are now offering the camp to 5th-grade- and 6th-grade students exclusively.
Camp Third Coast is a four-day, non-residential day camp for rising 5th-6th graders. The camp will focus on environmental science and introduce youth to the environmental justice issues in Houston and surrounding cities. Students will be challenged to think critically about environmental issues and create an action plan as a response.
Activities include field trips to Galveston, Challenge Works (Bryan, TX), Black United Fund of Texas Community Center (Kashmere Gardens), and more. Attached are the English, Spanish, and Instagram flyers to distribute among families, schools, friends, etc.
Program Dates: June 11-14, 2024
Time: 7:30 AM – 5:30 PM
Ages: Rising 5th-6th grade
Cost: Free
Application Deadline: Closes when the first 30 students register.
