Principals' Message
Dear Crossett Brook Community Members:
November means not only a change in the weather, but also a change in trimester. We are about 3 weeks from the end of Trimester 1, where the first round of Applied Academics classes will be ending and students will be transitioning to their next one. There will be no major changes to team academics, other than possible travel group switches. Once the trimester ends, we will send out report cards through Jump Rope about a week later after teachers have time to finalize grades. As always, you can access Jump Rope through the access information sent out last week via email. If you haven't received an email invitation or need it send again, please let us know.
Please make sure to send back the Winter Sports Payment form and rental forms (if your student needs rentals). We would love to have everything in before Thanksgiving break, so that we can make sure that things are up to date before the Holidays.
Sincerely,
Jen and Duane

Team Quest Highlights
Team Quest celebrated our memoir unit with a team brunch. Students shared the stories they wrote with each other.
Titan News
Team Titan had an eventful October! We’ve had meaningful team-building moments both in-class as well as full-team, ranging from mixed-age groupings, to Titan Olympic festivities, and of course, the ongoing additions to our Titan Olympics trophy. We’re looking forward to celebrating Halloween on Thursday with a little spirit of our own!
From the Wizard's World
Students on Wizards are learning about figurative language devices. Each day the morning message has an example that they have to figure out. The first student to accurately tell Ms. Michael what type of figurative language was used gets a prize. It has been a fun and slightly competitive way for students to review and practice their understanding of figurative language devices such as personification, metaphors, etc. Here’s an example. Example: Ms. Michael was practicing mindfulness this weekend and noticed the grass dancing in the breeze.
These two Wizards are my reigning champions.
Dream Team News
Dream Team spent a beautiful, sunny day at the Audubon Nature Center recently learning about outdoor survival. We learned how to build shelters with materials from the forest floor, as well as fire-building with flint and steel. We practiced our communication skills, as well as how to work cooperatively in groups. A great day was had by all!
Health Office Updates
Wash hands, cover your sneezes and coughs, and stay home when sick!
As we head into the colder months, we hear a lot about protecting our health and the health of those around us. Here’s a list of some simple ways to stay safe:
1. Wash your hands often with soap and water.
2. Avoid contact with others if you or they are sick.
3. Cover your coughs and sneezes with your elbow or a tissue.
4. Consider wearing a mask, especially if you or people you are with are at higher risk of serious illness.
Learn about this year’s vaccines and make a plan to get your shots.
