CONGRATULATIONS METHACTON HIGH SCHOOL- 2021-2022 PIAA SPORTSMANSHIP AWARD!
We are so proud to share that for the 21-22 school year, Methacton High School won the District 1 Sportsmanship Award. Sportsmanship is an understanding of and commitment to fair play, ethical behavior and integrity, and general goodwill toward an opponent. It is a great honor and we are very proud our athletes, coaches, fans, and community! Please see the picture below:
Advanced Placement Exam Ordering Window
Methacton Advanced Placement Exams order window is from September 27, 2022 – October 14, 2022. These exams are for students who are currently enrolled in an Advanced Placement Course for the 2022-2023 school year.
Exams can be ordered electronically through our Advanced Placement Website, which can be found Here . Additionally payment can be made to Dr. Kochenour’s office in C221. Check (made out to Methacton School District) or cash is accepted. The exam fee is $98 per exam with the exception of AP Seminar & AP Research which are $146. An exam cancellation fee of $40 will be enforced this year per College Board. Procedural Reminders- Unexcused Tardy
Disciplinary consequences for continual unexcused tardy include:
Seniors- removal of parking privileges;
Juniors- delayed opportunity to register their vehicle for parking as seniors;
All students: zeros for work missed while late; disciplinary probation.
We ask you to please look at Powerschool to ensure your student is making it to 1st period on time. If you see they are late and have questions after speaking with your student, please feel free to reach out to your student's grade level administrator (found at the bottom of the newsletter).
Homecoming Information
Homecoming is next week! So that everyone can best plan their "spirit" and participation, below please find out list of spirit days and our plans for the week:
Spirit Week: We will be tracking participation to name the most spirited class during the pep-rally.
Monday, 10/3 – Monochromatic
Tuesday, 10/4 – Sports Jersey
Wednesday, 10/5- Closed for Yom Kippur
Thursday, 10/6 – Pajama Day during the day; Semi-formal Dance that evening (see note below)
Friday, 10/7 – Green and White (See schedule below)
Dance- Thursday Night, 10/6/22 @ MHS, 7:00-9:30pm
Attire: Semi-formal (suggestion: wear comfortable shoes)
Procedure: No overnight bags; small purse ok- Checked at door, no outside guests.
Check-in Location: Main lobby entrance- student drivers (gr 12 only) should park in the student lot in their spot and enter via the music doors like they do each morning; students being dropped off should utilize the bus lane and enter via the main entrance doors. (From Germantown, parents should enter campus turning left at the admin building, pass the student lot on your left, and turn RIGHT into the bus lane. It is one-way only. Drive all the way up to the main doors to drop off).
Tickets ($20) will be on sale during lunches starting 9/28. The first 500 tickets sold get a free Homecoming t-shirt.
Leaving Early: If a student wants to leave early (before 9pm), students must hand in a note to their grade level administrator in advance of the start of the event. If they do not have a note, we will ask for them to call home so we can speak with you and get your permission. All students are permitted to leave 30 min before the event ends without contact home (9pm).
Pickup: Please be sure to be onsite BY 9:30. Pull into the bus lane and up as far as you can go. Students will be dismissed out the front doors.
Friday- 10/7: We will have an altered schedule to hold our Pep Rally and inter-class competitions in the stadium (weather permitting--dress to be outside).
Modified Schedule for the day
All students report to period 1 as usual. At 7:45, seniors will be called via the PA system to report to the stadium for their senior class photo.

Friday Night Football Game:
At halftime, we will be honoring representatives from our clubs and activities, as well as highlighting students from our elementary and middle schools that best exemplify the the school's values on a daily basis. This new tradition is meant to showcase the amazing people that make up Methacton School District.
PSATs- October 12 : Please Note Altered Schedule Below
10th and 11th grade students will be taking the PSAT (from approximately arrival until 11:15), have lunch and then follow an altered PM schedule. Details to testing locations will be shared in English classes in advance of the exam. Students should plan to bring a pencil and calculator.
9th grade students will report to school as usual. We will be hosting a Futures Expo (from arrival until approximately 11:15), have lunch, and then an altered PM schedule. Students will be completing the “Career Journey” with their teachers that morning and will complete four artifacts from the career fair journey. All artifact assignments for the day are associated with our Act 339 plan.
12th grade students will be arranging for a college visit (virtual or in person with their own transportation), job shadowing for the day, or using the day to obtain community service hours. They will NOT report to MHS this day. At the conclusion of the college visit, job shadow, or community service, students will submit a google form reflection assignment to their English teacher. Please be on the lookout for a form coming home through your student's English teacher.
Strategic Plan Survey During Homeroom 10/17
The Strategic Plan Student Survey will be administered on 10/17 in school, during Homeroom, for all students. The survey should take approximately 5 minutes.
Questions will be sent via district office to parents with directions for opt-out if you do not want your student to participate.
Yearbook Baby Ads
Continuing a 32 year tradition, the staff of the Methacton High School Yearbook (The Methactonian), is offering parents of graduating seniors the opportunity to purchase a “baby ad” for publication in this year’s book. Space is provided for a baby photo and a personal message of well wishes and congratulatory statements of 50 words or less. Baby ads are only offered online. UNIVERSAL FREE BREAKFAST PROGRAM
On Friday, September 9, 2022, Governor Wolf announced a Universal Free Breakfast program for all Pennsylvania students to begin on October 1, 2022 through the end of the 2022-2023 school year. As a result, all Methacton School District students will have the option to receive breakfast each morning at no cost. Our building principals are working on a plan with Aramark to roll out this new program and will be providing additional information in the coming days. Gotocollegefairs.com - has a host of resources available about colleges, social media help with searches, and GAP Year information. These are virtual.
"Application Rescue" sessions will be held after school to help students with their college applications and search. These are not meant to replace 1:1 counselor meetings, only to supplement. These sessions will be held after school at 2:30 on the following dates:

College Rep Visits are back in person this year! Students may sign up through Naviance, make a smart pass and then report to the area for the visit. 60 schools and counting have signed up so far!
Methacton High School Financial Aid Night
This annual event will cover information regarding the Free Application for Student Aid (FAFSA) and the CSS profile. Topics will include how to set up your student and parent accounts, an overview of various financial aid scenarios using sample schools, discussion about the awards letter and more. A representative from a local college/university will be our presenter.

Welcome Back Warriors ALUMNI Day!
Welcome Back Warriors Day is on Friday, September 30th.
Meet up with your fellow alum and get reacquainted with the Methacton School District, starting at the high school auditorium where you'll learn about innovative programming and future plans designed to help students excel. Following the brief presentation, our guides will take you on a fascinating tour of the school - a nostalgic trip you won't want to miss! Hop on a school bus to visit the district's extraordinary planetarium at Arcola Middle School. Later, show your school spirit and enjoy refreshments at our football tailgate located behind the pressbox in the Commons. Then gather at the Trappe Tavern for our evening social - we have the entire second floor reserved with plenty of food and a cash bar!

How can I donate to the Backpack Program?
There are several ways you can contribute to the Backpack Program:
Collection Bins
· Donations can be dropped off (Monday thru Friday) at the Methacton High School East Wing or Arcola Intermediate School. Collection bins are located near the entrance.

Military Opt-Out Form
The law permits recruitment offices of the United State military services to have access to class lists of public high school juniors and seniors. These class lists are used in recruitment efforts by the armed services. Information contained in these class lists includes student names, addresses and telephone numbers to be used to contact prospective enlistees.
Students and parents/guardians may elect to have their contact information excluded from the class lists provided to the military services. To have your student’s contact information excluded from the list provided to the military services, you must complete this form by Friday, September 30th.
