Week 20 We are learning….
Spanish Language Arts: hacer inferencias, ideas principales y secundarias, lenguaje figurado, prefijos: inter-, re–, des–, dis– en palabras de varias sílabas, adverbios
Math: Students will learn how to solve multi-step word problems involving the 4 operations. This will be the homework for the week.
Science: modele y describa los cambios lentos que ocurren en la superficie de la Tierra causados por la meteorización/degradación, la erosión y la deposición producidas por el agua, el viento y el hielo.
English Language Arts: Students will continue to learn how to compare and contrast different texts and answer questions related to the texts.
Social Studies (English): Students will learn about our government, past presidents along with the importance of voting.

Dear 4th grade families:
We had a great first week back after the winter break! Students were engaged and excited to be in school as well as all teachers. Also, we are so excited to have Mr. Rochin as our full-time 4th grade teacher, who has replaced Ms. Jewells. The link to his Seesaw class is included below.
Wednesday will be our field trip to the Paramount Theater. Please ensure you child arrives on time to school so they do not miss any important information and instructions.

Week 19 We are learning….
Spanish Language Arts: Sufijos –eza, –iento, Sílabas con r fuerte (r, rr), Adjetivos con el verbo ser y estar, Hacer y contestar preguntas, Estructura del texto, Técnica del autor, Elementos de la poesía, Mostrar comprensión de una novela describiendo y explicando el vocabulario y respondiendo por escrito preguntas sobre el texto.
Math: Students will learn about budget, profits, fixed and variable interests along with financial institutions that can help us save money.This will be the homework for the week.

Spanish Language Arts: características del texto y elementos gráficos,sintetizar, idea principal, estructura del texto, raíces del griego auto, bio, foto, grafía, alabras con ñ, responder a la lectura,
Math: Students will learn how to look for patterns using input/output tables and answering questions related to the data. Since the class met their class goal for MAP, their reward would be no homework for the first week of the new semester.
Science: Friction experiments with different surfaces and with weight

Dear 4th grade families:
This week, we will have our holiday party during your child’s lunch time until 1:30pm. We will be ordering pizza and juice. Any parents who want to send any extra snacks are welcomed.
We will also be having our Human Sexuality lessons. Any student whose parent did not fill out the form will be sent to another class to complete alternative lessons provided by the district.

Dear 4th grade families:
We will be MAP testing Monday through Wednesday. Please make sure that your child arrives on time and has breakfast to ensure productivity.

Math: Students will learn how to interpret data via frequency tables, plot diagrams, stem-and-leaf. Due to MAP testing, there will not be any homework.

Math: Students will learn how to solve 2-step word problems involving multiplication and division. Practicing the times tables at home will be beneficial for students. This is the homework for the week and will be due on Friday

Math: Students will learn how to add and subtract decimals. We will continue practicing multiplication, division, area and perimeter for irregular shapes. This is the homework for the week and will be due on Friday

Math: Students will continue exploring decimals and their relationship to fractions. We will continue practicing multiplication, division, area and perimeter for irregular shapes. This is the homework for the week and will be due on Friday
Science: Continue exploring mixtures and solutions. This is the last week on this topic
English Language Arts: Students will retell or summarize text in ways that maintain meaning and use text evidence to support their ideas.

Week 9 We are learning….
Spanish Language Arts: Students will be learning about author’s craft, plot, and theme, identifying antecedents and understanding the agreement between pronouns and antecedents.
Math: Students will be entering the world of decimals and how they are represented both as money and fractions. We will continue practicing multiplication and division. This is the homework for the week and will be due on Friday
Science: Continue our exploration of mixtures and solutions.
English Language Arts: Students will retell or summarize text in ways that maintain meaning and use text evidence to support their ideas.
Social Studies (English): Texas geography: Students will continue to learn about the government tribes, culture and lifestyle of American Indians
SEL: We continue our discussions of community building and identity

Week 8: October 7 - October 11
Dear 4th grade families:
We had a wonderful short week filled with fun activities and learning, and it was great to see the kids so engaged! As we head into the long weekend, I hope you all have a chance to relax and enjoy some quality family time. Week 8 We are learning….
Spanish Language Arts: Students will be learning about plot, figurative language, using visualization for a text, nouns: singular, plural, articles and noun agreement, suffixes (-oso, -mente) words that contain the syllables Y & Ll, and writing a response about a text.
Math: Students will learn how to find area and perimeter for irregular shapes. We will continue practicing multiplication and division. This is the homework for the week and will be due on Friday
Science: investigate and compare a variety of solutions.
English Language Arts: Students will continue the writing process on their personal narrative and will be editing, revision and publishing on Friday
Social Studies (English): Texas geography: Students will learn about the government tribes, culture and lifestyle.

Week 7: September 30th- October 4
Dear 4th grade families:
Next week our students will enjoy a long weekend as they will have Thursday and Friday off. I hope you enjoy the time off with your family doing fun activities. We still have a few slots open for anyone who would like to volunteer to make copies. We would really appreciate it if anyone can come next Thursday. Our students have been doing an amazing job adjusting after the transition, and we’re so proud of their hard work. Week 5 We are learning….
Spanish Language Arts: Students will be learning about suffixes, complex and compound sentences. We will also be learning about the main idea of a text with supporting details
Math: Students will be diving further into long division and interpreting remainders in word problems. We will be looking at 3 different types: dropping it, adding one more to the quotient, and remainder is the answer. Click here to view the homework for next week.
Science: We will be learning about magnetism

Dear 4th grade families:
Our students completed the beginning of year MAP test! Any student who was absent will make up the test on Monday. We cannot believe we are halfway through the first 9 weeks of school, time is flying by when we’re having fun!

Week of September 2nd
Dear 4th grade families:
Our second week of school has been all about reinforcing our classroom rules and procedures, but we have also started diving into 4th grade content. The students are showing interest in the classroom and are engaging in our daily activities.
Week 3 We are learning….
Spanish Language Arts: We will be focusing on reader and writer workshops along with Spanish grammar.
Math: We will continue working on comparing whole numbers
Science (Spanish): We will be doing an experiment on gravity.
English Language Development (English): We will begin working on reading responses that involve author's purpose.
Social Studies (English): Students will begin learning about Texas geography
