Back-to-School
The Back-to-School web page is live on the UA website. On this page you will find supply lists for K-8, required forms, carpool info, catered lunch details, After School sign ups, Dress Down info, and more. Enjoy your summer!
Carpool
In order to expedite carpool in the safest and most efficient manner, we ask that you review the updates and reminders to our procedures listed below.
General reminders:
- Students are to be dropped off and picked up through carpool. Do not enter the parking lots during carpool.
- Do not park in handicap spots OR the area next to the handicap spots used for loading/unloading. These are reserved for those with a handicap tag only. Do not use the handicap spots to “pull in” and drop off.
- Please refrain from using your cell phone during drop off and pick up.
- Please follow the directions of our staff.
Morning Carpool
- Students are to be dropped in carpool only.
- Do not enter the parking lots.
- Make sure your child has his belongings close by so he can exit quickly.
Afternoon Carpool
- Students are released through the carpool lanes. Please do not enter the parking lots.
- Carpool tags are required for afternoon pickup. Students will not be released until their CarRider tag is read and appears on the screen in their classroom.
- Anyone missing a tag will need to park, go to the office AFTER 3:30 and sign out their student.
- Tags are available through MPP.
- Be patient. The first two weeks are a challenge, but it will get better. 😀
Activities
2024-25 School Year
We like to volunteer, go on field trips, and have BIG events at UA. Make sure you are checking the Activities webpage for information about ALL of the FUN!
- Field Trip form is located in MPP. The online form gives your child permission to participate in on and off campus field trips (overnight trips require separate registration/payment).
- Activity dues are due no later than August 26. This includes Family Day shirt, on campus activities, service projects, and more. Located in MPP.
Reminders
- July 30: First Day of School 1-12 (K students will receive start date from their teacher)
- July 30: Catered lunch closes at 9pm (no exceptions)
- July 31: HS Sports begin (see more info below)
- August 2: Senior Portraits
- August 2: Back to School Picnic 5:30pm-7:30pm (Registration required by July 30)
- August 25: Magnet Contest Deadline
Recurring Reminders
- Board meetings: View the webpage for meeting dates
- After School: Deadline Thursday of each week
- Lunch: Deadline is the 22nd of each month unless otherwise noted
- Reserve the Rock: Call the front office
- Yearbook: Order through Jostens
- Driver's Ed: Register through UCPS
Volunteer Magnet Contest
Enter the annual magnet contest by August 25.
HS Field Trips
HS Field Trips are open for registration!
Freshman Orientation
All freshmen are invited to attend orientation on Friday, August 26.
Back to School Picnic
We hope you will help us kick off the new year! Registration is required. Hotdogs, games, and music will be provided. Each family is asked to bring a side dish or dessert. Details are in the registration link. Register by July 30.
HS Fall Sports Begin July 31
- Visit athletics.unionacademy.org for specific sport information
- Complete Athletic Clearance paperwork including updated physical prior to tryouts.
- Complete and log required nonprofit service hours two weeks prior to tryouts.
School Improvement Team Parent Nominations
A School Improvement Team is required by North Carolina law to develop and implement a School Improvement Plan. This plan has goals and allows team members to collaborate on ways to achieve the goals and meet the needs of the school. Please be sure to view Union Academy’s 2023-2028 Strategic Plan.
The team will work throughout the year and consists of division principals and other administrators, teachers, instructional and non-instructional support staff, and parents of children enrolled in the school. The representatives are elected by their respective groups.
Please nominate parents to our School Improvement Team using the form below. Please complete your nomination by Wednesday, July 31.
