DRES FAMILY MESSAGE

On behalf of the DRES Staff, I'd like to welcome you to Durant Road Elementary for an adventurous year learning, growing, team work, and fun!

Our theme this year is "World Changers" and we will be focusing on how to change the world in a positive way!

We are excited to start school tomorrow, Monday, July 29!

Be sure to read this and refer to it throughout the school year. It is located on our school website in the Parents section.

Check out the new Cell Phone expectations which were added in this school year.

We will have carts outside during morning carpool to gather school supplies and get them to your child's classroom so parents do not have to park and walk in with their children.

To help with this, please label the bags with your child's name and teacher's name to make sure they get to the correct location.

Be sure to communicate with the teacher on how your child is supposed to be going home from school. Determine your primary method of transportation and let the teacher know. Be sure to communicate with the teacher at any point in the school year if your child will have transportation changes.

You are invited to fill out an application to see if you qualify for free or reduced price meals for your child. This needs to be redone every year. Please apply using this link: https://www.myschoolapps.com/

Staggered Entry:

• Be sure you have your child's staggered entry date for this week. They will only come 1 day on either Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday.
• You will park in the parking lot and bring your child in to their classroom.
• Pick up a Carpool Tag, Walker Form, and check Bus Transportation in the morning at the table set up in the entry way.
• Can drop off school supplies
• Be sure to communicate with teacher on how child will go home, if they have their own lunch or buying lunch, and any allergies.

Kindergarten Meet The Teacher:

• Friday, August 2 from 11am-12pm
• Will learn more information specific to your child's Kindergarten classroom and teacher
• Can drop off school supplies

First Day with All Kindergarteners:

• Monday, August 5- All Kindergarteners will start school.
• Parents can walk Kindergarteners in to their classroom for the final time, if needed. We will have staff members stationed throughout the halls to make sure they get to their correct teacher.
• Parents can drop off school supplies if needed.
