Welcome to the monthly Continuous Improvement and State & Federal Programs communication. The purpose is to contextualize Continuous Improvement into our daily work, to efficiently complete all State and Federal Program tasks, and to promote moving these tasks past simple compliance. • MICIP Monthly User Group is coming up on November 7th at 1:00. Here's the Zoom Link.

The School Index will be updated with new accountability designations for the first time since 2018. It is expected that the Index numbers and designations will be out sometime in early November. Here are some resources to be ready:

As of this writing, final allocations have not yet been released. Once Final Expenditure Reports (FER) are complete and the final allocations are released, it will be time to amend our federal budgets in NexSys and MEGS+.

• Here is a very helpful presentation on 2022/2023 amendments from the OES. This should answer most questions that may come up during amendment time
• The window to submit Final Expenditure Reports opened October 1 and are due no later than November 29.

Previous information from my October Communication:

Districts are invited to apply for "Learning Loss" funds (MDE Memo). This state grant of over $52M was appropriated from GEER funds as part of ESSER II and will be split among applicant districts on a per-pupil basis. This is optional for districts to apply. For those that do, it is required to hold a public meeting in October to get input on the district's plan for how the funds will be spent. If your district plans to apply for funds, you will have to assure that this meeting was held before October 30.

Timeline:

• October 30 - deadline for public input
• November 4 - technical assistance webinar at 11:00 (link)
• November 30 - application deadline (link to application)
• July 14, 2023 - grant reporting deadline to MDE

Information has been released by MDE about how to apply for the 15% carryover waiver. Previously, this was accomplished through filling out a form and emailing to MDE. The process has now moved to GEMS. You do not need to have a GEMS login to submit the form.
