Middleton Update
February 20, 2025
Dear Middleton Families,
The building was busy this week with all things OBOB! We had over 80 students in grades 3-5 participate in OBOB this year. Battles began Tuesday after school and will wrap up tomorrow afternoon when our final two teams battle in front of the school to determine the winning team. The final battle is between "The Chapter Chompers" (Cade McFeron, Eli Stobbe, Tabitha Vann & Cooper Dickerson) and "Two Series and a Novel" (Cameron & Courtney Stubblefield, Sydney & Dominic Mills, and Olivia Gerber) at 1:30. Parents are welcome to come watch!
Thank you to everyone who has donated to our Food Drive this week, supporting Helping Hands. We will wrap up collecting donations tomorrow night at the Horseshoe Hop. We hope to see you there! (See event details below.)
Thank you all for your support this week with OBOB and food donations!

Valentine's Day Lunch Rescheduled
We have rescheduled our fun Valentine’s Day lunch menu for tomorrow, Friday the 21st. Students may choose between whole-grain rich, heart-shaped chicken nuggets or a Smucker’s strawberry peanut butter & jelly sandwich. Nutrition Services will also offer a chocolate chip cookie for dessert.
Horseshoe Hop TOMORROW!
We still need a few more volunteers TOMORROW NIGHT! Please click here to sign up.
**ALL STUDENTS MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADULT**
Get ready to light up the night at our Neon-Themed Dance Party. Bring the whole family along for an unforgettable evening! Revel in the beats spun by our DJ, capture memories in the photo booth, and light up the night with fun glow accessories. Pizza and cotton candy will be available for purchase.
Due to your overwhelming support for this year's Fun Run, the annual Horseshoe Hop is FREE to all Middleton Families. You are welcome to bring a non-perishable item to help wrap up and support our food drive.
Information on Lice
We have recently been made aware of several cases of lice within our school community. We understand that this news can be concerning. Below is some helpful information to address the situation.
Things to know:
Lice are small insects that live on the scalp and hair, feeding on blood.
They are commonly spread through direct head-to-head contact.
While lice are not dangerous, they can be uncomfortable and cause itching.
Prompt treatment is recommended to prevent further spread.
What we ask from families:
Please check your child’s hair for lice regularly, especially behind the ears and at the nape of the neck.
If you find lice or eggs (nits), please treat your child’s hair immediately. Over-the-counter treatments are available, or your healthcare provider can recommend the best solution.
Please notify the school if your child has been diagnosed, so we can take necessary precautions to limit the spread.

All Things Kindergarten!
Kindergarten Open House
If you'll have a kindergarten student next year, please join us at our Kindergarten Open House on March 13 from 4:00 - 6:00 pm. At this event, you and your incoming kindergartener will get to complete some fun activities, see our classrooms and meet our kindergarten teachers, and tour the school! We look forward to seeing you there!
Kindergarten Registration
Registration for 2025-2026 kindergarten students is now open! CLICK HERE to register. Incoming Kindergarten students must turn 5 prior to September 1. Registering early helps the school and district start planning for the fall. During online registration, new families will create a Sherwood ParentVUE account. Parents of current and former Sherwood students will log in with their existing ParentVUE account. Please call the Middleton front office at 503-825-5300 if you have any questions.
Families are also welcome to register using paper registration. Paper registration packets can be picked up from the Middleton front office.
If you know a family who will have a kindergartener at Middleton in the fall but is not yet a part of our school community, please pass along this information.
