About the Music Program and Performance Times
Your student's music program is approaching quickly! It will be Thursday, October 24 at 6:30 pm. We will also have two day-time performances for the students. Students will need to arrive back at school at 6:10-6:15 pm for the evening performance.
Our program is called "Rock ‘n’ Roll Forever." It is a collection of some of the greatest hits from the 1950s, ‘60s, and ‘70s. It is a fun and energetic program that will last about 20-25 minutes.
This program is for ALL 4th grade students. It will be their only opportunity for performance this school year. If you know your student will not be at either the day-time performances or the evening performance, please let me know as soon as possible.
On the evening of the program, students will need to be back at school between 6:15-6:20 p.m. and meet in their classrooms. Please have them give you any coats or jackets as they will not return to their classrooms.
Speaking Lines
Students will have the opportunity to volunteer for speaking lines. If a student wishes to have a speaking part, they will receive one. Likewise, if a student does not want a speaking line, they will not get one. We will have a few additional roles (i.e. Elvis, Little Richard, Beach Boys, and the Beatles). Not every student will be able to portray these characters, though, however they will have a narrator line if they want a speaking line. Please talk to your student about the small number of these additional roles.
Scripts will be passed out during music class. A copy of the script has been added to this website for your references, but students have not been assigned yet. All lines will need to be memorized (but I will be in front of the students if any of them forget!)
Costumes
Costumes will need to be provided by you-- if they have a specific character, please have them dress up like that character. If they do not have a specific line, they can choose to dress up as 50’s, 60’s, 70’s or “beachy” (appropriate!).
Popcorn Party!
The week following our program, we will be having a popcorn party in the music room and watch our performance on the SmartBoard. This is a great opportunity to reflect on our performance. If your student cannot have popcorn, please have them bring in a snack to enjoy while we watch our performance.
