February
Home of the Rabbits!
Mission: At Rabbit Creek, we strive to create a safe and inclusive environment that fosters high levels of academic and social emotional standards to prepare all students for success and future challenges.
Vision: We create and provide rigorous academic and social emotional practices that engage and motivate our individual learners.
Land Acknowledgement: We acknowledge that our school is on the traditional lands of the Dena'ina People of Upper Cook Inlet. For thousands of years, the Dena'ina People have continued to be the stewards of this land. ASD is committed to diversity and inclusion, and it is with honor and respect that we recognize all Indigenous people who live and learn in our community.
Dear Rabbit Creek Families,
This month seemed to fly by. Our students learned about integrity and optimism within their classrooms and during specials. It was very exciting to see students being recognized for showing these traits and being able to recognize others who are showing these traits in their classroom or out on the playground. In February, we will be focused on two new character traits: caring and empathy. We would love your support at home with this work as well. Please have conversations with your students about optimism, integrity, caring, and empathy. Recognize when your student is showing one of these character traits and praise them.
Our weather has finally realized what season we are in. It has gotten very cold over the last couple of days. To ensure the safety of our students, please make sure they have all of their winter gear including, hats, gloves, snow pants, jackets, and boots. If you arrive earlier then 7:40 (Tues.-Fri.), please have your students wait in your car until you see me or our crosswalk duties outside so students do not have to wait in the cold during negative degree weather.
I appreciate your support and commitment to our school community. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to ask.
Kind Regards,
Principal Angela Kraemer

2025-2026 Budget Proposal
It would be remiss of me if I did not mention the budget proposal for the upcoming year. The ASD 2025-2026 budget proposal will balance a $100 million structural deficit. This budget is based solely on the revenues that school districts are legally entitled under Alaska statute. Since any increases to public education funding remain uncertain, the budget reflects only what is assured by current law. If the legislature and governor approve additional funding, it will likely come after ASD is required to submit a balanced budget to the Municipality of Anchorage.
Though the budget proposal has not been approved (changes can still be made) I understand that information like this can raise many emotions for everyone involved because there are a lot of unknowns and many decisions that are out of our control. During this time it is important to focus on what we do have control over. Staying informed, providing public testimony, and contacting elected officials are things we have control over.
Please use the resources on our FY 26 Budget Solutions webpage to stay informed on this matter. Your voice is critical in highlighting the real-world impact of these financial challenges and advocating for the resources our students deserve. Please consider sharing your perspective directly with your legislators as well.
School Climate and Connectedness Survey
We value your feedback! Our district is conducting a survey for Rabbit Creek families in order to understand your perceptions of our school and district's effectiveness. Your insights are crucial for providing high-quality learning experiences for our students.
We have partnered with Panorama Education for the 2024-2025 Family Survey. Your responses will remain confidential, and the survey will only take a few minutes. Your input will help us enhance our school and district.
Please complete the survey by clicking on 2025 SCCS Family Link and selecting "Rabbit Creek Elementary." The survey will be open from January 27 to March 21, 2025. So far, we only have 27% of families who have finished the survey. Our goal is 100% participation. Don't delay, fill it out today! The more feedback we get the better we can serve you and your students.
We genuinely appreciate your thoughtful responses. If you have any questions about the survey, please don't hesitate to contact us at 907-742-5700.
Spelling Bee
Our spelling bee made the news! I am so proud of all our spellers! They were extremely brave and knowledgeable when it came to spelling words. Congratulations to our top 13 - what a huge accomplishment. A special congratulations to Quinn (1st place) and Aleah (2nd place) in fourth grade. Quinn will be moving onto the city wide spelling bee later this year.
After School Clubs
Registration has closed for after school skiing and we ended up with 67 participants. Like skiing in PE, after school ski club won’t be happening until we get the snow we need.
