NEWSLETTER - MARCH 2023
MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMAN
“Together one mind, one heart, one soul, one small step at a time, we can make some difference towards a better world, a brighter tomorrow.”
- Martin Luther King, Jr.
Dear students, parents, and staff,
Welcome to the decennial year of Bodhi. As we begin our tenth year, I want to take a moment to reflect on the past nine glorious years of our school's existence. Since its humble beginnings in the year 2014, Bodhi International School has expanded significantly and achieved major milestones with excellent results, good placements, and commencement of CBSE Secondary and Senior Secondary classes. We have also taken a quantum leap in our Sports facilities and formal coaching in various disciplines of Sports; the triumphs of children at different levels are a testimony to this. It is with immense pride that I can say we have accomplished a great deal together - from academic excellence to holistic development, we have consistently produced amazing outcomes.
This would not have been possible without the hard work and determination of all the stakeholders of our school. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the teachers, staff, students, and parents who have made this journey possible. Your unwavering commitment to the growth and development of our students has been a source of inspiration to us all.
As we move forward into our tenth year, I am excited about the new opportunities and continued growth that lie ahead. We aim to create a conducive environment of learning for students and teachers alike to promote a progressive society of empowered citizens. We will continue to prioritize an all-round learning environment with the best pedagogical practices and build a strong foundation for future leaders.
Our goal is to prepare confident, intelligent, and smart young adults who will make an impactful, positive and constructive difference in the world. With this objective, we will work to equip our students with the skills they need to succeed in the modern world, while also fostering a love of learning and a passion for personal growth.
I am confident that together we will continue to achieve great things and reach the zenith in the years ahead. Thank you for your unwavering support of our school, and I look forward to the exciting journey that lies ahead.
Sincerely
Mr Naresh Bothra
FROM THE PRINCIPAL'S DESK
Greetings Bodhi Community,
Welcome to the first month of our decennial academic year! We hope this newsletter finds you well and excited for the start of a new school year. March was a busy month at Bodhi, with end-of-year exams, short break and orientation activities for the new academic year. Here are some important updates and highlights for the month of March:
End-of-Year Exams: As we approached the end of the previous academic year, students sat for their end-of-year exams. The summative assessments brought a well deserved culmination of teaching learning practices at Bodhi. We are optimistic about very good results from our Cambridge and CBSE board batches.
Orientation Activities: We hosted orientation activities for new students and parents throughout the month of March. This was an opportunity for new students and parents to familiarize themselves with our school's facilities, policies, and procedures, as well as meet our faculty and staff. We look forward to welcoming our new families to the Bodhi community!
Extracurricular Activities: We are excited to offer a wide range of extracurricular activities for our students this academic year. Students will have the opportunity to participate in clubs, sports teams, and other activities to explore their interests and talents. Please stay tuned for more information on how your child can get involved in these activities.
Reminders: As a reminder, please ensure that your child arrives at school on time and is dressed in accordance with our school's dress code. Also, kindly review our school's policies and procedures, including attendance, homework, and behavior expectations, which can be found in our school almanac.

ACCOLADES AND ACHIEVEMENTS
PRIMARY WING
Welcome back everyone
We hope you all are refreshed and energized for another good academic year.
Wishing you all the very best for the new academic year.
The First Primary Assembly
BELIEVE IN YOURSELF & YOU WILL BE UNSTOPPABLE…
Morning assembly is the time when the whole school gathers in one place. It is a beautiful way to start our morning with a prayer.
Grade 4A students welcomed one and all to the school campus as the premise resounded with the school prayer followed by thoughts for the day and the importance of the day.
The initiative of students was clearly visible by a well-planned role play and quiz conducted on ‘World Health Day’. Every child is given the opportunity and the platform to display their talent and present themselves as individuals. We at Bodhi International School believe that the morning assembly plays an incredible role to develop a feeling of affiliation and unity among students so the learners were rewarded for their achievements and participation at the end.
Music
Music is an important part of our curriculum and with the best resources and opportunities to develop your musical talents.
The newsletter will feature articles on music theory, technique, and history, as well as profiles of musicians who have made significant contributions to the field. We'll also highlight upcoming performances and concerts, so you can mark your calendars and make plans to attend.
Students have been singing unison rhymes and songs and leaning towards understanding patterns. The Primary Years have been exploring alankaras and sargam at the same time exploring instruments during their classes.
The students of Middle School are learning ragas, sargams, and related songs in addition to the instruments of their choice.

The Golden Pen Awards
Creative writing defies the traditional limitations of various forms of writing and allows students to use their creativity and imagination that is subjective to their own experiences. The students got a wonderful opportunity recently to express themselves and convey their message with vivid clarity and pure emotions.
STEM Metaverse announced The Golden Pen Awards on World Poetry Day for students of all ages. The topic was ‘Infinity’ and students were given the freedom to write a poem or a narrative within 1000 words. Our students, Anandalekshmi S of IGCSE Grade 10 and Sia Anand of Grade 8 submitted their original poetry highlighting their understanding of ‘Infinity’ concerning life. The results are awaited but the poems are a reader’s delight.
The Loop of Life
Endless memories disguised as dwellings in a rusty town,
And time laughs, time cries, time steals a look down
To the brown sand of emotions flooded under them,
That once lay bottom to flourishing columns of leaf and stem
Then the soul laughs, the soul cries, the soul screams out in joy,
As it discards and boards now its new home, ahoy!
Like do memories, riding the clear waves of eternity,
But the soul holds on to time as it nevertheless does pass,
So does the sand itself, slowly slipping away through the glass.
Endless creatures look up at the dark patch of sky,
Pulsating along the diamonds of the night
Only to know the present has once been the past,
And so will existence be doubted on once again,
That as the sun shines once more, thus begins the infinite chain,
Like the clouds in day that disappear and are recast,
After lightning chars the air and crackles,
Unsettled by how it is now in infinity’s shackles.

The Infinite Within
An ethereal sea stretches out of sight,
Above, stars glitter in the vast expanse of night,
Unfathomable by our finite minds,
Infinity: the timeless song that always binds
In nature's beauty, so unique and rare,
And the mysteries of the universe we stare,
We dance to a tune that we can't comprehend,
And we're stuck in a trance until the very end.
Our unquenchable thirst for curiosity,
Guides us on a journey with no surety,
Through cosmic seas that stretch beyond the horizon,
Where creation's secrets always seem to beckon.
Infinity: the power we wish to wield,
A desire within us that never seems to yield,
As we seek to understand the infinite and expanding,
With a fervor that keeps on never-ending.
But amidst the horizon's glow we bask,
Blinded to the boundless potential we mask,
Deep within our very own existence,
A power that can be quite transcendental.
Our minds are a universe in themselves,
Infinite possibilities, endless wells,
Of creativity, imagination, and innovation,
A power that can shape a world’s foundation.
We look to the stars, dreaming of what could be,
Ignoring the greatness that we fail to see,
For within ourselves lies the key,
To unlock the doors of eternity.
The universe may hold its secrets tight,
But within us lies an infinite light,
A power that cannot be contained,
A force that shall forever be sustained.
So let us not look to the cosmos alone,
But within ourselves, let our true power be known,
For the infinite potential within us lies,
Just waiting to be realized.

English Club Activity: Writing a Movie Review
Writing a movie review is a great way to express your opinion of a movie. The purpose of most movie reviews is to help readers determine whether it is worth watching that particular movie. The review should give enough details about the movie so that the reader can make an informed decision, without giving anyway any essentials such as the plot or any surprises.
Reviews analyze the effectiveness of the plot, theme, acting, direction, special effects, musical effects, cinematography, and all other elements that created the movie. There are qualities and guidelines that a critique of a movie should possess. Avoid the use of generalized opinions such as “it was a great movie” or “the acting was horrible,” but rather give specific reasons and the whys.
Students of the English Club watched the Oscar-winning Indian documentary ‘The Elephant Whisperers’ by Guneet Monga and Kartiki Gonsalves during their Club lesson on 29th March 2023. It was an enjoyable experience for them based on which they wrote their movie reviews for the same. The format of the review was shared with them along with samples to guide them in their creative pursuits.
MOVIE REVIEW:
The Elephant Whisperers is a touching and powerful film that showcases the deep connection between humans and animals. The relationship between Bomman, Bellie, and Raghu highlights the importance of compassion and empathy, especially in the face of grief and loss.
The use of camera angles and music can greatly enhance the emotional impact of a film, and it seems like the filmmakers have done a great job in capturing the beauty of the natural world and the bond between the characters.
Overall, it sounds like ‘The Elephant Whisperers’ is a film that is both visually stunning and emotionally moving, and it is likely to resonate with audiences who appreciate stories about the power of human-animal connections.

HUMANITIES
MARCH MADNESS
The month of March commences with the cessation of one academic session and concludes with the initiation of another. The art department is consistently and diligently working towards keeping the learners engaged, curious and creative.
Our month began with the installation of the prestigious Art and Design Wall of Fame. The Cambridge Art and Design syllabus aims to encourage a personal response from learners by stimulating their imagination, sensitivity, conceptual thinking, analytical ability, and observational skills. Art and Design as a subject also develops a greater awareness of the role played by visual arts in society, history, and culture.
The wall of fame reflects coursework sketches and studies by our students of IGCSE to A-level Art and Design. It showcases a variety of media along with a dynamic approach toward the subject matter.
Middle School Engagement
The start of the new academic session was very productive for the students as well as the department. Bodhi International School has a uniform policy of language enrichment in all phases. Keeping that in mind the first session for art classes was focused on encouraging learners to read. Our first classroom activity was to engage our students in bookmark-making activity while introducing one of the first elements of the art- line. The facilitator motivated young scholars to use their imagination and sensitivity while creating these bookmarks. Learners were also taught the importance of harmony and rhythm as principles of design during class sessions.
Art Club
The academic session 2023-24 aims to focus on subject-specific clubs to involve learners in various activities. The art club aims at providing a platform for club members to learn specific skills required for inter-school/inter-house competitions. During the club sessions, the students will become more familiar with the idea of collaboration and teamwork. We had our inaugural club meeting in the final week of March. The ice-breaker activity was a group project. Learners learned the techniques of acrylic pouring and created praiseworthy paintings. I hope to keep your wards and my students creatively engaged throughout the year.

6. Conducting science quiz competitions
7. Organizing creativity works on science
8. Preparing still/Working models on science topics
To conclude the Science Club:
Learning-by-doing and learning-by-living are two essentials of learning science. Children are interested in making things, breaking things, and handling things. But the curriculum does not satisfy this natural urge. An organization that caters to the development of scientific attitude and genuine interest in science and also can supplement the work of the classroom and give the syllabus a practical dimension may be called a science club.

Manifesting Success: Learners Start French Class with Positive Mindset Exercise
Learning a new language can be a daunting journey, but with the right mindset and motivation, it can also be incredibly rewarding. That's why, on the first day of their French class, learners were encouraged to kickstart their journey with a unique exercise that left them feeling empowered and positive.
In this exercise, learners wrote their manifestations in their notebooks. This exercise not only helped them practice making phrases in the French language but also aligned their thinking process with their language-learning journey. With clear visions of what they wanted to achieve, learners were able to set themselves up for success from day one.
But the exercise didn't stop there. Learners took the opportunity to affirm their life goals, along with basic affirmations such as "Je suis content" (I am happy) and "Je suis intelligent" (I am intelligent). These positive affirmations not only helped learners stay motivated throughout their French language-learning journey but also reminded them of the power of a positive mindset in achieving their life goals.
Overall, the exercise was a hit with the learners, who found it to be a valuable tool for maintaining their motivation and positivity. The teacher hopes that this exercise will continue to serve as a source of inspiration and motivation throughout the rest of the class, helping learners achieve their language learning goals and beyond.
