ST. MARY PHOENIX NEWS
March 6, 2020
Mrs. Marvin's Corner
Spring is in the air and then winter returns to remind us of the fluctuating weather. Illness is still all around us and we ask that you help us stay healthy by keeping your children home when they are ill. They must be fever free for 24 hours before they are allowed to return to school. Wash your hands often. We will have an update on the Coronovirus after the Friday meeting at the Red Cross with Wayne County Health Department.
Fish Fry volunteers are greatly needed for Friday, March 20th. All parents and parishioners are asked to volunteer either by donating desserts or helping with serving or in the kitchen. Please call the school office at (330)262-8671 or emailing stm_kbarnes@tccsa.net.
Congratulations to Trei Durstine! Trei placed 8th out of 222 students in the Copley Academic Challenge Tournament last weekend. Thank you to Erin and Andy Michel for advising our team this year. The team has shown so much growth this year. Great job Team Phoenix.
The Day/School and PSR students are responsible for Stations of the Cross at the Church on Friday, March 20th at 7PM. If your children are interested in being part of the experience, please let the office know. I will be asking for volunteers on Monday. Anne Giancola will be leading the students on that evening.
Just a reminder that Extended Day ends at 5:30PM. We know that sometimes there is an emergency. Extra charges will apply if you are continuously late. Thank you for your understanding.

Current Promotion (Feb. 11-March 9): For every $100 spent on Scrip cards, you will be automatically entered into a drawing for either a $50 Scrip gift card or a reserved pew at an Easter Mass.
Next promotion: We will be teaming up with the Social Justice Club to collect gift cards for patients at Akron Children’s Hospital. More info to come!
Next Order Date: On Monday, March 9th, we will be selling Scrip in the lobby during morning drop-off. If you need physical cards at any other time, stop by the church office during business hours, order online, or contact Sandy.
How Do You Use Scrip? I was hesitant to use Scrip before, but it was explained to me so well that I started using it for gas. We travel for sports and have to get gas anyway, so now it is on my mind to reload my Speedway Scrip Card. It is a win-win situation, school wins, you win in an expense you have to do anyway.

St. Mary School Information
Since 1865, people have known St. Mary School students by their actions. This is because throughout our history, we have focused on building student’s character, based on the values instilled by the Catholic Faith, and a foundation of academic excellence.
St. Mary School provides a welcoming environment where families have the freedom to celebrate the faith. In a world of need, responsibility matters and strength is needed to serve our communities. It is our mission to develop students who have the ability to be mentors and leaders in the world. We recognize that each student is a unique gift from God and we individualize instruction to help them reach their full potential. We strive to promote an atmosphere that encourages a love of learning and provides children with a foundation of faith to balance and guide them for the rest of their lives.
