Principal's Message
Dear Families,
A big thank you to our ASB and our ASB advisor Ms. Stacy Robe for a successful Winter Wonderland Dance. As you will see in the picture and video below a fun time was had by all! And a special shout out to our 7th grade DJ Kennedy Koury for keeping the crowd engaged with some great songs.
The semester one grading window ended on Friday (1/18) and this week we begin Semester 2. Semester 1 grades will be visible in PowerSchool by Friday 1/26. As we begin our second semeter grades reset so this first six week grading window is very important to set our students up for success. It is normal to see some fluctuation in grades during the first six weeks of the second semester but we want to remind students to keep working hard and take advantage of all the supports we have available to set students up for success. Tutoring is available afterschool every Tuesday and Thursday, all teachers offer Office Hours on Wednesday and Homework Help is available every Wednesday from 1:50-2:45 PM in our library.
We have seen a dip in our attendance in December and January due to illness, family vacations, and travel sports activities. We want to remind families that absences matter. We understand your child will be absent from school from time to time but research shows regardless of the reason for the absence, students who are absent from school 2 or more days per month struggle. Two absences per month is just too many. Our families have been wonderful this entire year about prioritizing school attendance and we want to encourage you to continue making attendance every day at Pershing a priority and to try and schedule appointments and any other activies outside the school day.
Sincerely,
Melanie Kray
Winter Wonderland Dance!
