BECOME A LINCOLN VOLUNTEER TODAY!
DPS uses VOLY, a volunteer management system, to post volunteer opportunities and find volunteers.
To volunteer on one of our campuses, you will need to create a VOLY account by visiting https://dickinson.voly.org.
Once you create an account, you will fill out the following:
- DPS Volunteer Application
- Volunteer Confidentiality Rules
- 2022-2023 Orientation Video
- Volunteer Handbook
- Background Check Consent
- DPS Board Policy requires that each volunteer undergoes a background check before working with students. You will be prompted to complete the background check during your VOLY account creation process. Keep an eye on your inbox for your background check approval (the process can take up to 2-3 days).
- Once approved, you will be able to sign up directly for volunteer opportunities through the VOLY platform!
Thank you for your desire to volunteer with us! Volunteers are an integral part of what we do every day in DPS.
Morning Drop Off & Departure
Students may NOT be dropped off at school prior to 7:35am unsupervised. Our school staff start supervision at 7:35am! If you bring your child before 7:35am, you are expected to stay with your child(ren) until a supervisor opens the front door to begin greeting students. If your child walks to school on their own, please make sure they will not arrive until 7:35am. We want to keep ALL students safe in the morning! Thanks for your cooperation.
Dismissal times are staggered.
3:00 Grade K & 1
3:05 Grade 2 - 5
Supervision after school is from 3:05-3:20. At 3:20 all students are brought into the school and supervised until 3:25. Please make arrangements to have students picked up by 3:25.
Parent/Visitor Policy
We ask that parents and younger children wait on the sidewalk during after school pickup.
Thank you for helping us keep students safe!
Sick? Stay home from school and notify the office!
Children don't learn very well or get much out of school when they aren't feeling well. It truly is in the child's - and their classmates- best interest to keep children home when they are sick.

We also have a Celebrations form on our website and would love to hear about any celebrations our students may have whether it be in sports, arts, or community involvement!
EMERGENCY PROCEDURES
In the event of a crisis situation, please be assured that our school has an emergency management plan in place and that school, district, and emergency staff will respond accordingly. We need your support and ask that you rely on communications from the school district. The first and official way for us to contact you in an emergency is using our automated calling system (Powerschool). We will also use our district website and social media accounts, and local news outlets to communicate information. It is very important that you understand that in a crisis situation, school phones are needed to manage the situation and lines must remain open. Calling could also put students and employees at risk in an intruder situation (if they did not have time to turn down the ringer, your call could potentially give away their hiding spot). You must also know that you need to wait for instructions on student release and do not go to the school. Emergency personnel responding to the situation need the area clear to do their job. After emergency responders determine that a safe student release is possible, arrangements will be made to reunite children with their families. In a reunification situation, you will be told where and when to go, and you will need photo identification.
In the aftermath of a crisis, it is important to remain calm as children are greatly influenced by their family’s sense of well-being, and anything that families can do to reassure students will be helpful. At the same time, families need to be compassionate listeners when their children speak of the crisis.
If you have any questions, please reach out to me.
