WASD SAVE MY FAMILY COMMUNITY EVENT
Save My Family events are geared to provide parents/guardians with the tools, insights, and resources to better enable them to understand several of the major forces that are impacting kids’ psychological, emotional, and physical well-being.
Save My Family has assembled a panel of experts to provide training and inspiration on how to successfully navigate the waters that kids and teens are caught in. Be enlightened by the experts including Officer Gomez, Former FBI Agent Hart, pediatric neurologist, Dr. Condie and event coordinator Kelli Rich. They’ll discuss social media, drugs, addiction, and other issues parents/guardians need to know to keep kids safe.
All parents/guardians are invited. All kids ages 12* (ish) and older, or any age with a smartphone, are encouraged to accompany parents. *This discussion will include topics that may be difficult for small children.
GROWING TOGETHER, LEARNING FOREVER
PRONGHORN PRIDE
Congratulations to this group of students who received recognition for being a great example of what it means to be a PVE Pronghorn. These students were caught modeling a school-wide expectation. Way to be #PronghornStrong!
POWERSCHOOL AND EMAILS
Ensure You're Receiving All Important School Communications!
We want to make sure you're staying up-to-date with all important news from our school. Please note that PowerSchool pulls contact information differently for various departments. Emails from the main office and school nutrition may use a different contact list than those used by teachers.
If you aren’t receiving emails from all areas (teachers, main office, nutrition, etc.), please follow these steps:
- Check that each household contact has an email entered in Contact 1 and Contact 2 fields.
- Make sure the email addresses listed are current and correct.
- Make sure you have not opted out of communication through your email by hitting the unsubscribe button.
If you’ve already completed this and are still not receiving emails, especially from teachers, please ensure you have set up your PowerSchool Access Account. Each parent or guardian will need their own account.
If you need assistance setting up a PowerSchool Access Account, please contact the front office for support. We’re happy to help ensure you are fully connected. If you have done all of these steps, please contact the front office for support.
Thank you for your attention to this matter!
REMINDERS ABOUT POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
RELEASE OF STUDENTS DURING THE DAY
For students’ safety, Parents are required to sign a student out at the office when removing them from school.
- Students will remain in the classroom until Parents arrive to maximize instructional time.
- When anyone other than a Parent is picking up a student, they MUST have a note from a Parent. The school may contact the parent to confirm the Parent’s request.
- A Parent may also call the office and authorize the person listed as an emergency contact to pick up their student.
- Schools use Raptor as a security measure when students check in or out of school during the day.
- Picture ID will be required for anyone picking up a student
DELIVERIES
Flowers, plants, balloons, food, or other deliveries to students will not be accepted due to student allergies, storage, disruption to the school day. (i.e., Door Dash, Uber Eats, etc.)
Please note this also includes invitations. If you are choosing to send those to school, you will need to have your child deliver to peers before the day begins or at the end of the day.
LUNCH WITH YOUR CHILD
Notice of Change in Lunchtime Practices
As we continue to grow, we've encountered space limitations during lunch periods, particularly in most of our grade levels. To ensure a smooth and comfortable experience for all students, we are making some adjustments to our lunchtime practices this year.
New Guidelines:
- Lunchroom Access: Unfortunately, due to the large numbers, we are unable to accommodate parents in the lunchroom at this time.
- Alternative Options: We are pleased to offer an outdoor picnic area at the front of the school when the weather permits. Additionally, you are welcome to check your child out for a special lunch or car lunch during their lunch/recess period. We kindly ask that students return promptly to ensure they don’t miss valuable instructional time. Volunteer for a recess game or event with your child.
We greatly appreciate your understanding and flexibility as we navigate these changes with our growing population. Rest assured, we are actively working on providing many opportunities for parent involvement throughout the year, and we look forward to seeing you at various events.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership.
ATTENDANCE
New this year, we have an automated system for calls! Don't worry, we are still answering calls as the first option; we know talking to someone right away is important. However, after business hours our phone to immediately change to an automated system. During business hours, the automated voicemail system will pick up after 4 rings, indicating that the front office staff is either on the phone or helping someone in the office.
You will have the option of the following when the automated system answers:
Press 1 for Office
Press 2 for Attendance
Press 3 for Health Office
Press 4 for Transportation
If you are simply calling to report your child's attendance, you may call 208-350-4498.
NO MORE THAN NINE! GROWING SEEDS OF SUCCESS!
Help us make sure kids are in school and ready to learn. Attendance is one of the greatest factors in student success.
