SUPERIOR ST. ELEMENTARY
Superior Street Students Investigate the Wonders of Animal Life Cycles
Our second-grade students at Superior Street were hard at work in January exploring the life cycles of butterflies, chickens, and frogs. Through hands on learning, students created art projects depicting each fascinating and diverse stage in the life cycle of these animals.
Family Academy for English Learners
Thank you Superior Elementary for hosting this month's Family Academy on English Learners. Parents from all of our schools and Community Reps gathered to watch a live webinar happening at a different location. We are grateful to have a local school be available to our families to share in this wonderful parents engagement session.
CANOGA PARK ELEMENTARY
Drawing thanks for kindness
Some families at Canoga Park Elementary was affected by the devastating fires but the school has helped all the families and in need. And to help get back to normal life, our students were able to celebrate the kindness they received through giving back with chalk drawing of beautiful images for the school.
BECKFORD CHARTER
4th Grade Builds their Missions!
4th Grade was hard at work building the intricate California mission kits as part of studying the state’s history for their social studies curriculum. Creating mission kits helps the students learn in a hands-on way and encourages them to research the missions, understand its architecture, purpose, and history. The students were excited to see what they had learned come to fruition. Thankful to our amazing 4th parent volunteers who supported the students in the classroom!
Beckford wears Pink for Fairness Character Month
Last Friday, January 24th, Beckford students and staff wore pink for Fairness Day. This event was sponsored by the Beckford 5th Grade Student Council. Fairness Day teaches children the importance of fairness, respect, and empathy for others.
Beckford Buzzes with Words!
This past Monday, January 27th, Beckford 4th and 5th graders participated in the Scripps National Spelling Bee program (Classroom Bee). The kids had a blast and loved supporting their peers! The winner was Cristina Chait from 4th grade. Cristina will move on to compete in the School Bee level and represent Beckford in the Region North Spelling Bee at Mulholland Middle School in February. Good luck Cristina!
Beckford Students Spread Love and Joy to our Local Firefighters
Our amazing 5th Grade Student Council and Beckford PTA collaborated together to provide a beautiful basket of healthy snacks and breakfast items to LAFD Fire Station No. 8. The Student Council also spearheaded a banner that all students could sign to thank the extraordinary Firemen for all the amazing work they do!

Teacher Welcome Back Luncheon
Our very generous PTA organized a Welcome Back Luncheon on January 17. Teachers and staff were treated to a delicious soup and salad bar to thank them for all their hard work.
Parent Portal Event and PTA Parent Connect
Community Rep. Gabriela Knutson and the PTA combined efforts to encourage parents to register for Parent Portal as well as joining the PTA. PTA provided coffee, bagels and muffins to all parents who attended. Multiple parents signed up for Parent Portal!
Book Fair Preview for Topeka Students
The Book Fair took place from January 27 to January 31st but first, there was a preview for all the students. Teachers signed up for time to bring their class to peruse all our Book Fair had to offer before it even started. The love of reading is alive and well with our students!

Year of the Snake
PRCS Dual-language classes celebrated Lunar New Year with special activities for students and families to participate in. With wearing traditional costumes, playing traditional games and eating traditional food, the KDLP program shared their heritage with the school. We wish everyone a happy, prosperous new year.
Look who turned 100!
Ms. Storms Kindergarten class just got a little older! They celebrated 100th day of school with fun, learning activities. They were all gifted a hundred dollar bill displaying their cute faces for a keepsake so they can look back when they are 100!
