The eLeader
The official digital newsletter of La Porte ISD
Greetings, La Porte ISD Family. Today is a great day to be a Bulldog!
It was another wonderful week in La Porte ISD! In addition to the outstanding teaching and learning happening at all our campuses, we learned of two statewide honors that were earned by a student and an elementary campus — one for being a top-notch dancer and the other for excellence in counseling services. We also kicked off the second semester of the innovative Project Launch program, which pairs our fifth and sixth-grade GT students with professors and graduate students at the University of Houston—Clear Lake.
This past week, I witnessed our soccer, softball and baseball teams conducting practices and tryouts. I also watched our basketball teams compete exceptionally well against district foes. Many people refer to this time of year in Texas high school athletics as the perfect storm, because there are so many events happening. I urge you to check out our Athletics Website and find a game or match to attend. Whether it happens in the pool, lanes or courts, these events are occurring almost every night from junior high through high school varsity.
Tickets go on sale tomorrow for the 2024 La Porte High School Musical, Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella in the lobby of Sonja Angelo Theater from 4-6 p.m. La Porte High School’s musical is renowned statewide for its quality and inclusivity, and I encourage everyone to enjoy this wonderful performance. If you hold a La Porte ISD Gold Card (for residents who are 60+) you can enjoy the opening night performance for free. Get your Gold Card Club card at our Administration Building, 1002 San Jacinto St.
If you have not had the chance, please take a couple of minutes and check out the fly-thru rendering of the future Bulldog Stadium and the Bulldog Development Center (below). We are very excited about the future of La Porte ISD, including the stadium and everything that is being upgraded on our campuses. For the latest photos, videos and updates, please visit our LP Bond 23 home page.
I'm looking forward to another great week!
With La Porte pride,
Walter Jackson, Ed.D.
