“Our WHE Woody's Fun Run is coming!”
Get excited – our school is hosting the WHE Woody's Fun Run at the end of our fundraiser on 09/27/2024! Our goal this year is to raise $20,000 for enrichment activities, various campus needs and teacher professional development to benefit ALL students at Woodland Hills Elementary.
We’re excited for this fundraising experience because it offers 3 important things to our school community: a user-friendly fundraising platform, a character enrichment program and a fitness-focused event. This school-wide event is sure to be an unforgettable experience for ALL students. All students are invited to attend, regardless of financial participation.

News from the Nurse
Required state screenings for Hearing, Vision and Diabetes Risk have started at WHE. These screenings are required for all students in PreK, Kindergarten, 1st, 3rd, and 5th grades. They are also required for any student who is new to HumbleISD this year. If your student does not pass one of these screenings, a referral will be sent home with them. Please make a follow up appointment as indicated on the referral form and return the completed referral form to me.
The back to school germs are in full swing and we are headed into flu season! Please remember that any student with a fever cannot return to campus until they have been fever free for 24 hours WITHOUT the use of fever reducing medications. Please do not give your student fever reducing medication and send them to school. This continues to spread whatever illness they have. As a reminder, cough drops are not allowed on campus per HumbleISD policy.
If your child needs medication while at school you must complete the Medication Administration form. This form can be found on the HumbleISD Health Services website here. All medications must be new, in the original container, and delivered from parent/guardian to the school clinic. Medications are not allowed to be transported by a student.
Birthday celebrations are always welcome but of course we want to keep all of our friends safe! If your student will be celebrating a birthday with treats in their classroom please email their teacher to check for food allergies.
Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns!

Forgotten Items, Campus Visitors & Cafeteria Information
All visitors should use the front doors and check in with the WHE Front Office upon arrival to campus. Please be prepared to provide your identification/license to our receptionist when visiting WHE. All visitors must wear their WHE Visitor badge in a visible place while in the building, and must check out with the front office upon departure. Thank you for helping to keep our campus safe!
In order to maintain safety and not disrupt our learning environment, guests are only permitted to visit the specific area they have signed in for. This may include the main office, clinic, meeting rooms, cafeteria, or other designated areas. Visitors are not allowed on our playgrounds during recess, and may not visit classrooms or academic spaces without prior authorization from WHE administration. Thank you for helping to keep our campus safe!
Forgotten items and/or lunches can be dropped off in the front foyer. Please let the front office know that you have dropped something off, and make sure that the item is clearly labeled with your child's name & teacher/grade.
All parents, guardians and visitors who wish to have lunch with their student must bring their ID - as visitors must check in with the front office to obtain a visitor's badge. Please be respectful of the following procedures when visiting WHE for lunch:
Visitor badges must be worn and visible at all times when you are in the building!
Lunch guests are required to sit at the special "guest" tables located in the center of the cafeteria and should only sit with their child.
Lunch guests may not walk around the cafeteria to visit with other students and may not share/purchase food for any other students except their own.
In order to avoid crowding, visitors may be asked to wait in the front foyer until it is lunch time and are asked to stay only for their students' lunch time.
All visitors must check out with the front office when lunch is over.

Humble ISD Child Nutrition Services is accepting Free & Reduced Meal applications for the 2024-2025 school year. Visit humbleisd.net/freeandreduced for more information.
Households must reapply annually in order to be eligible for free or reduced priced meals. Students who receive free/reduced price meals during the current school year qualify for those benefits the FIRST 30 DAYS of the following year in August. However, once a new application is processed, the eligibility determined by the new application will supersede the previous year's eligibility, even if that is within those first 30 days. Any student who does not have a new application processed by the 30th school day will automatically be changed to full pay.
ALL elementary, middle and high school students may eat breakfast FREE OF CHARGE at ALL campuses during the 2024-2025 school year.

If you plan to volunteer at WHE or attend a field trip this school year, you must complete the Volunteer Application prior to doing so! This application must be renewed each year. Get a head start and do it early!

Music Notes from Ms. Heyl!
Dear Fifth Grade Parents,
I know it's a busy start to the school year and I wanted to let you know what opportunities 5th graders have in music this year.
First, all 5th graders will be learning how to play a recorder during their weekly music class this year. All 5th graders will need their own recorder. Please click on this link to order a recorder online through Revtrak.
Also, there are 2 opportunities for 5th graders to join before/after school music clubs. I have a Ukulele Club and a Choir/Musical Theater Club called Dynamites.
- Click on this link to sign up for Ukulele Club: Tuesdays before school @7:30 starting September 10th and Thursdays after school from 3:30-4 starting September 12th.
- Click on this link to sign up for Dynamites: Choir/Musical Theater Club Thursdays after school from 3:30-4:15 starting October 17th.
Students can join both clubs!!! When you click on these links, there are more details about each club. Any questions, please email me.
Dear 4th Grade Parents,
I'm happy to announce that I will be starting an after school choir for any 4th grader interested in joining. This club will meet after school every Wednesday beginning October 16th from 3:30-4:15. They will have several choir performances throughout the year. They will have 2 performances for the fall semester. Their first performance will be Saturday, November 9th @Kingwood Park High School (more details to come) and during the 4th Grade Christmas Program on December 17th. Any 4th Grader interested in joining the 4th Grade Choir will need to fill out this 4th Grade Choir Google Sign Up Form.
