CUBS' CONNECTION
FEBRUARY 2019
What a Time to Show We Care!
positive messages! After school on Feb 8, 11, 12 and 13, students can buy Kindness Grams on blacktop for only 50 cents to send to a friend. Grams will be delivered by Student Council at the end of Kindness Week. Also, some big and little buddies made 'Cards for Kids' in local hospitals. See the photos below! Everyday students have the opportunity to show they care for themselves, others, and our school by following the Cubs' Code. Our code of conduct is 'Be Safe, Be Respectful, and Be Responsible'. Read below to learn more about our school Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS) plan. Thank you for partnering with us to ensure that our students regularly practice kindness, safety, respect and responsibility!
SEE YOU AND YOUR SWEETHEART TONIGHT!
PBIS
We are a Positive Behavior Intervention & Supports (PBIS) school. This is a school-wide system of supports that promote proactive strategies of defining, teaching, and modeling appropriate and expected behaviors all around our school. Our staff explicitly teach lessons that clearly show students how to follow the code in multiple locations on campus; classrooms, hallways, lunchroom, playground, bathrooms, etc. There are also signs in these locations to help remind all of the appropriate behaviors. Our goal is always to set up our students for success. When students demonstrate the expected behavior, adults verbally acknowledge them and give them a KUDO. Kudos are collected and redeemed weekly from a menu of privileges or rewards in each classroom. Most students succeed and receive praise for doing so. When expected behaviors are not followed, natural and logical consequences are given. This model positively shapes behaviors. PBIS is designed to support all students and a positive school climate. Be sure to ask your student what they 'buy' with their kudos! Our Cubs' Code of Conduct is BE SAFE, BE RESPECTFUL, and BE RESPONSIBLE! Please help us in reinforcing these behaviors everywhere our students go!
