PTA parents have gone above and beyond to create snack packs for our students during testing. We appreciate all that you do for our students. Also, next week is Staff Appreciation Week, and because of our parents efforts and contributions, we have a great week prepared for our staff next week. Thank you to all that donated and helped organize. We appreciate you all.

We welcomed our 5th Graders and their families to SMS on Thursday night for our first 5th Grade Sneak Peek. It was so wonderful meeting new families, seeing our current families with new students and having a few families return and share stories. The students were toured by student council and Mustang Mentors and all were given a presentation to learn more about SMS and what is to come. What a great night! We are excited for our new students to join our school community next year!

Thank you to Mrs. Malloy, Mrs. Cook, Mrs. Kulway and Mrs. Bendzuck for their dedication to our school and community. They are such great assets to our school and we are fortunate to have them work with our parents, students and staff every day. Thank you for all that you do!

Mallory Rusnica 8th grade Crusader finished this beautiful 'Stacks' quilt. Quite a large Makerspace project! The largest quilt yet!!!

This past March was Youth Art Month. Strongsville Middle School Art Department selected 12 talented students to showcase their artwork in the 2022 Northeast Ohio Art Education Association Youth Art Month (YAM) Regional Exhibition.

8th grader, Emily Zozulya was awarded 1st place in the middle school category for her painting of Tart the Cat; What an extraordinary well-deserved award!

Artwork from students K-12 across Northeast Ohio were included in the show. We are so proud of our student’s achievements.

We are looking for some volunteers for our Art Show May 10th here at SMS. Help is needed after school and consist of moving boxes and setting up artwork. Please sign up HERE to help. Thank you in advance!

Over spring break, a few students had issues with their chromebooks not turning on when they returned to school Monday morning. This issue is fixable, but can be prevented by keeping the chromebook charged. Letting the battery drain can cause problems, so please have your student keep their chromebook charged, especially over a long weekend or a long break.

Students can pre-register for Cuyahoga County Public Library’s summer reading program beginning Sunday, May 1. The summer reading program will tie in to the library’s 100th anniversary, and will challenge students to ready 16 hours over the summer. The program runs from June 4- August 14. The library will also have 8 STEAM challenges this summer, so be on the lookout for those as well.

As a reminder, Tuesday, May 3 is a voting day and we will have a Student Resource Officer on campus during school hours.

If your Son or Daughter would like to play or will be playing Football for SMS in the 7th Grade this upcoming season, there will be a mandatory Parent meeting on Tuesday May 17th from 6:30pm till 7:30pm in the Strongsville Middle School Auditorium. Please make sure that at least one parent per player attends this meeting. The Coaching Staff will go over the Summer Schedule which begins June 2nd and what to expect as a Parent and a Player playing football at SMS for the upcoming 2022 season]

Students in grades 3-8 will be keeping their Chromebooks over the summer break. Students will be responsible for keeping the Chromebooks and their cases in working order for use next year. If a student is leaving the district over the summer, please have their parent/guardian contact Dave Binkley (dbinkley@scsmustangs.org). Please prepare to pack a lunch on May 27th for the last day of school. A small amount of lunches will be prepared by our cafeteria staff for students who may need a provided lunch.

CLICK HERE to register (required). Tryouts will be at 5pm in the SHS Main Gym and are open to current 8th through 11th grade students. Dancers must learn the audition material via video and come prepared to perform it at the audition. This team is made up of the most highly skilled and trained dancers at SHS. They perform at home varsity boys' basketball games and compete at the regional and state level in the categories of jazz, hip-hop, lyrical/contemporary, and pom. This year, they were named Grand Champions at the Ashland University Cheer & Dance Competition.
