Principal's Message
Hello Wildcat Families,
We have had a wonderful start to the school year. The students are learning all the rules and procedures around school and are enjoying getting to know new friends. Our students bring me so much joy. Earlier this week, I was talking with a Kindergartener and she said, "my brother says I'm going to be here for a long time." I replied, "yes, it will be about 6 years". Her eyes got really wide, and she said, "that's more than I am old". I guess for our kindergarteners it is more than a lifetime. We'll take good care of them!
See below for information about our Back to School Picnic. I hope to see you there this Saturday. This is a fun event where families, kids and staff can connect.
All the best,
Stephanie Haga

Georgia Milestones Results
Some of you have asked about our Georgia Milestones Scores (GMAS). GMAS assessments are one of the tools we use to measure our effectiveness. These tests are taken by all 3rd-5th graders in the Spring and our ELA results were released this month. We have been told that Math results will be shared this fall.
We are very proud of our students’ accomplishments. Our GMAS results reflect all students who took the tests at Wilson Creek in the spring including students who have been with us for most of the year as well as those who recently moved to the US and are learning English. For that reason, we also measure student growth to ensure that we are meeting students' needs from wherever they start. Our data looks good from both perspectives. We are excited to see how much students learn and grow at Wilson Creek. Look at the image below to see how our students performed in ELA last year.
Individual Milestones Scores Released
Parents of 4th and 5th grade students, if your child took Georgia Milestones in the Spring, their scores have been released into Infinite Campus. Please click on the link below for directions on how to find your child's scores.

Student Assignment Policy Update for Hardship Transfers and Open Enrollment
Board policy JBCD Change of Student Assignment was revised on February 20 to eliminate childcare, curriculum, and medical hardship transfers. The policy revision is effective on August 1. After August 1, hardship transfers will not be available. Existing hardship students are grandfathered and can stay at their school through their terminal year, as long as they maintain satisfactory attendance, academic, and behavior standards.
Open Enrollment is the school choice option for parents if they desire to enroll their child in a school outside of their attendance zone. Previously, the Open Enrollment application window was May 1 -15. For the 2025-2026 SY, the application window will open in December 2024. Only schools with available space will receive students. Space is defined as 95% enrollment or below-stated capacity over a 3-year projection.
Based on our enrollment trends, Wilson Creek ES will not be on the Open Enrollment list. If that changes, I will let you know.
To learn more about the revisions to policy JBCD Change of Student Assignment, please see the attached FAQs.
