Red Shirt Day
Red Shirt Day takes place on May 28—the Wednesday of National AccessAbility and Inclusion Week. Red Shirt Day is when people across Canada come together and wear red in schools, workplaces and spaces everywhere to create a visible display of solidarity and show their support for persons and families who are living with disabilities. We encourage all staff and students to wear red in support of accessibility and inclusion on this day and start a conversation about ability.
Lakeland Ridge Volunteer Tea
Have you volunteered at our school? We would like to cordially invite you to Lakeland Ridge School's Volunteer Tea!
This is a time-honored tradition at our school that we are so excited to be able to host again this year. Our school community could not function as vibrantly as it does without your gift of time.
To express our gratitude, we'd like to invite you to our volunteer appreciation celebration on May 28. The school will be providing lunch and entertainment in the Mukluk Gym. The doors will open at 12:00 PM and the program will begin at 12:15 PM. The event will conclude at 1:15 PM. We will be serving sandwiches, salads, a side, and a desert.
If you are able to attend, please complete the following RSVP form. No action is required if you are not attending.
Thank you for all you do to support our learning community!
Hot Lunch - June 9th
We are pleased to announce that we will be offering another Nitza’s hot lunch for the school on Monday, June 9th.
This lunch will be open to all grades K(MW)-9.
We are using a new website this year called Healthy Hunger, which offers a large variety of restaurants to choose from and plenty of food options as well. Better yet- our school gets money back just for ordering through their website!! This money will go directly back to our fundraising goals and Lakeland Ridge students and staff. If you have already set up an account for your child for the last hot lunch, then you will be able to log in and start ordering right away. If you don’t already have an account set up, follow the steps listed below to get started.
This is ALL done online- both ordering and payment. We can NOT accept any cash or written orders.
The deadline for ordering is 5 days prior to the hot lunch and we cannot make any changes or additions after the cut-off. Order cut-off date for this lunch will be Wednesday, June 4th at 11:59 PM
**We will be unable to do refunds for students who are absent on hot lunch day. If you would like to make arrangements to pick up your absent child’s lunch, please call the office or email llrhotlunch@gmail.com by 11am the day of the hot lunch. Unclaimed lunches will not be kept past the lunch hour.**
Nature Wanderers Childcare
Next year, Lakeland Ridge will be hosting a private childcare company, called Nature Wanderers Childcare. They will offer childcare for Kindergarten age students on off days as well as before and after school care for students up to age 12.
For any inquiries please reach out to Nature Wanderers directly.
Write-On Stationary
Lakeland Ridge School is continuing to offer school supply packages through Write-On Stationery, to provide parents/guardians with the opportunity to order school supplies in a quick and convenient manner. We will package and deliver all supplies, along with pre-printed labels, directly to your home (we no longer provide pick-up at the school).
All orders can be placed online from now until August 1, 2025. It is not a requirement that you order through Write-On Stationery, however, if you choose to participate, 10% of your total order will be returned to Lakeland Ridge School as a Fundraiser.
To order:
• Go to www.write-on.ca
• Click on “PARENTS – Order Here”
• School Name: Lakeland Ridge School SHERWOOD PARK
• Choose your grade and place your order.
• Complete your order by clicking ‘PLACE ORDER’
• You will receive an automatic email confirmation to confirm your order has been received
• We accept VISA, MC, AMEX, Visa/MC Debit.
Class Considerations for 25-26
In the coming weeks, we will begin the process of creating class lists for the next school year. This is a carefully planned and thoughtful process that requires considerable time and attention to detail. We work hard to balance a variety of factors, including academic needs and social-emotional considerations to ensure each student is placed in the most supportive environment for their learning.
As in past years, we will not be taking classroom or teacher requests. Thank you for your understanding as we work to create a positive and productive learning environment for all students.
