The Board of Education Wants to Hear From You!
As part of the District's new strategic plan, Community Engagement and Communication is one of the priority areas. The Board has launched a monthly ThoughtExchange during each board meeting to ask stakeholders to share their thoughts on a given topic. The Board will review the results during their monthly Board study sessions to help guide the planning and the work of the District with your voice at the table. This month the topic is on Advocating For Your Student. This will help gather input on how the District can best support you as you advocate for your child(ren).
Please take the time to share your thoughts on ThoughtExchange on this month's topics:
The following items were shared with the Board of Education for information. Please see the listed agenda items below.
- MSBA Board Report - The Board watched the monthly video update from Missouri School Boards Association.
- Early Childhood Education Program Evaluation Update.
- ThoughtExchange Survey Results from the December Board Meeting.
During the December 14 Board meeting, the following questions were asked: What are some ways you would like to engage in conversation with the District. What are some of the best methods to get your thoughts and opinions heard?
- 118 participants generated 82 thoughts and gave 2,020 star ratings
- The highest rated thoughts were as follows:
- I would like our (teachers/staff) voices heard by the Board.
- It would be great if district leadership was more present in school buildings!
- Visit our schools -- would like to see board members or administration at our school.
- Superintendent and cabinet need to urgently listen more and take action based on teacher and building administrator needs and requests for their schools.
- Town halls were a nice idea; and now the district can say it "gave teachers and parents a voice." But you have not taken steps to address concerns.
The complete list of thoughts shared in the exchange has been shared with board members and District leadership teams. Many of the concerns are being addressed with action steps to improve parent, staff and student voices being heard in the District. View the ThoughtExchange survey results from the December meeting.
