Lake Bluff Elementary School Family Newsletter
Hello Lake Bluff Families,
Last week, we have a wonderful assembly! Students are about to embark on their work on the Centennial Mural. To kick things off, Lauren Courter, our art teacher, and Ben Tyjeski, author of The Lake Bluff Story in Art Tiles, gave an outstanding presentation to our students.
The students are all a buzz about Hot Dog Day. If you haven't filled out the form for your student's order, please do so. We need a form completed for every student by April 25. We appreciate your help in gathering this information.
Finally, I wanted to remind you there is no school tomorrow. For those of you who celebrate, I wish you a peaceful Good Friday and a Happy Easter.
Thank you and have a wonderful week!
Kind Regards,
Johanna French, Principal

This year, every student will receive a FREE Hot Dog Day shirt. Please indicate your student's shirt size. Please note we will not be able to exchange sizes, so please make sure you order correctly.
Please complete ONE FORM PER STUDENT by Friday, April 25. Please click on your student's teacher to complete their form. If you have multiple students, you will need to complete the form multiple times. Thank you!

Community Engagement Sessions - Let’s Talk About School Safety
Dear Shorewood Staff and Families/Caregivers,
As part of our ongoing commitment to the safety and wellbeing of our students, staff, and patrons of the Recreation Department, the Shorewood School District is conducting a review of our safety protocols and our Districtwide Emergency Management Plan. One of the first steps in the process is to invite you to participate in two upcoming engagement sessions. Your input is valuable as we work to enhance our safety protocols, emergency response procedures, and overall culture of school safety.
“Let’s Talk About Safety” engagement sessions will take place:
Monday, May 12, 2025 from 6:00-7:30 pm
Thursday, May 29, 2025 from 6:00-7:30 pm
During these sessions, we will review current practices and seek your feedback to inform and update our Safety Plan.
Thank you for your ongoing support. We look forward to collaborating with you. RSVP Today!
Understanding Unconscious Bias
Unconscious bias is a deeply rooted, automatic response that affects how we perceive and interact with others-often without realizing it. It influences hiring, healthcare, education, justice, and more.
Join us, along with Judge Derek Mosley, Tuesday, May 20th at 6:30 p.m. in the SHS Auditorium for a 90 minute training session designed to help you recognize and reduce unconscious bias in your daily life and work.
You’ll learn how to:
Define and measure unconscious bias
Understand its history and impact
Identify how it shapes decision-making
Apply techniques to mitigate bias
This session includes space for conversation and reflection. All are encouraged to attend.

Be a Voice for Wisconsin Students
Make a plan to share your thoughts on the state budget to ensure Wisconsin kids get what they need after 16 consecutive years of state budgets that have failed to keep pace with inflation. It’s time to end the cycle and store our commitment-and our constitutional obligation-to our children.
