Yost Weekly Update: August 11, 2023

Ready for another great year at Yost! I am thrilled to reconnect with our returning families and extend a warm welcome to those joining Yost for the first time.

Construction is finally complete! Our Yost students will not just walk into a building that is full of the best teachers and staff, but a fully functional cafeteria and kitchen, playground, gymnasium, STEM room, and performance stage. Our students and staff deserve this beautiful new building. Parents and students will get to visit at our open house on Tuesday, August 13, from 4:00-6:00. There will also be a Yost community night where the building is open to everyone on September 12, from 5:30-7:00.

In addition to our wonderful new facilities, Yost is going to continue improving our means and methods of educating each and every student in our school community. We are eager to continue to build on our past successes and embrace any new challenge with a spirit of collaboration.

We understand that a strong partnership between school and home is crucial to student success. We encourage open communication and invite you to be actively involved in your child’s education. Whether through attending school events, volunteering, or simply staying engaged with classroom activities, your support plays a vital role in our collective achievement. Please never hesitate to reach out to me or any staff member with questions or concerns.

Thank you to all the students that signed up to participate in the Ribbon Cutting event. It was a very special event. Also, thank you to the Duneland School Corporation maintenance staff, custodial teams, and central office for working so hard to celebrate our amazing school and community.

We have some exciting changes in the works for the 2024-2025 kindergarten cohort at Yost Elementary. In the upcoming school year, we will be piloting an embedded transition program for our incoming kindergarten students. There will be a parent meeting regarding the Pilot Program as well as other Kindergarten information on Thursday, August, 8, from 6:00-7:00 in the Yost Cafeteria. Families, please park on the Northwest lot and enter Door W9.

School Begins- 7:30

Dismissal Begins- 2:15

Office Hours- 6:45-3:15

New traffic patterns will be shared in a separate communication closer to the start of school. Please pay close attention to all school and district communications.

Yost has been designated as a Family Friendly School by the IDOE.
