Notes from the Principal
We hope this message finds you well as we approach the Thanksgiving break. At Peoples Academy Middle Level, we are grateful for the support and partnership of our families in fostering a safe, positive, and thriving school community.
As part of our ongoing efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of all students, I want to communicate expectations regarding student attendance at school events, including basketball season coming up! Students under the age of 13 must be accompanied by a parent, guardian, or designated adult chaperone to attend school events. This includes activities such as dances, athletic games, performances, and other extracurricular gatherings.
Students aged 13 and older may attend these events without adult supervision, provided they follow all school rules and behavioral expectations.
This expectation is designed to:
Ensure appropriate supervision for our younger students.
Maintain a respectful and enjoyable environment for all participants.
Provide clarity and consistency for families regarding event expectations.
We appreciate your support in helping us maintain appropriate supervision for your children. Should you have any questions or need further clarification, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
As we head into the Thanksgiving holiday, we want to take this opportunity to express our heartfelt gratitude for your involvement in our school community. Your dedication, encouragement, and partnership play a vital role in our students' success. We wish you and your loved ones a safe, joyful, and peaceful Thanksgiving.
Thank you for all you do!
Best,
Jes
Parent/Guardian/Teacher Conference
It is time for our first parent teacher conference of the year! We’re formatting them a bit differently this year. You will have the option to meet with as many (or as few) of your student’s teachers as you would like. Unlike in years past this first conference is a parent/guardian only conference. Conferences in the spring will be student led.
Each conference will be 20 minutes long. We are offering conferences on Thursday 12/5 from 1:00pm-6:30pm and on 12/6 from 8:00am-12:00pm.
Please use this link https://lsuu.meettheteacher.com/. Instructions are attached. If you have trouble or any questions please call the office 888-1401.

Unbound Information
Hello Unbound Families!
We are partnering with the Morristown Centennial Library to offer a VERY cool STEM class starting in December!! Since the start time is toward the end of our first session, I'm just going to add the class to the existing registration form. The info is below. Please let me know if your child is interested in participating!
Here are the dates (Thursdays starting in December):
12/5, 12/12, 12/19, 1/2, 1/9, 1/16, 1/23, 1/30, 2/6, 1/13
Here is the write up from the library:
This program is a STEM-focused after school program for kids in grades 5 - 8 in collaboration with the White Mountain Science Institute. This will be for 8 weeks and would be open to 20 - 24 students. The program will be offered in collaboration with Peoples Academy Middle Level as part of their Unbound Afterschool program. To sign-up email Amy at amy.thompson@lamoillesouth.org. Pick-up will be at the MCL at 4:30. The program lasts for 8 sessions. Throughout the course, students would meet weekly for 1.5 hours and explore tools and skills related to coding and computational thinking, computer-aided design, animation, robotics, circuitry and electromagnetism. Working individually and in small teams, students would explore these topics in hands-on projects in an exploratory and open-ended environment. A staff member from WMSI and a children’s librarian would be present to guide students through iterative, creative problem solving.
Please let me know asap if your child would like to sign up!
Our Winter/Spring Registration forms will be out the week you return from Thanksgiving Break (hopefully sooner!). We are also going to try and set up electronic registration...stay tuned. :)
Thank you!

For Parents/Caregivers and Educators
As the holiday season approaches, here are some helpful tips to keep kids and teens safe, whether you’re traveling or hosting guests:
Medicines: Lock up all medications, including over-the-counter ones. If you're visiting someone else, ask if they’ve secured their medicines.
Alcohol: Avoid leaving alcohol unattended. Provide fun, non-alcoholic options for young people and those who choose not to drink.
Cannabis, Tobacco, and Vapes: Keep all edibles, tobacco products, and vapes out of reach, and monitor their use. Be mindful of secondhand smoke and edibles can be especially tempting to young children, leading to an increase in poison reports.
Safety Code Words: Give your kids or teens a “code word” they can use if they ever feel unsafe or uncomfortable in any situation. Code words can be as simple as “pizza”, “homework”.
Inclusive Holiday Planning: Involve youth and teens in making holiday plans—they’ll enjoy the season more when they feel included!
Substance-Free Events: Plan substance-free activities, especially when driving is involved. December is Impaired Driving Awareness Month, a great reminder to prioritize safety.
